I decided to try out a bunch of things in this piece, like colors I don't usually use, a different way to color, and a minimal degree of foreshortening. One of these days I'll figure out proportions, shading, and how to draw hands properly.

there's a lot of strange things going on in this piece, especially with her left (our right) shoulder. for a winter snow piece, i think you used too many primary, saturated colors. the red on green really sticks out in a bad way -you could have toned them down to a cooler variation of each. the pose is weak, too. considering some of your other work you could have done something more interesting with this

lenko

i think for a winter piece you should try using more whites and blues - or cold colours in general. all these warm colours don't really suggest winter to me
<emanhattan> i remember pingu ice cream
<emanhattan> it was a better time
<emanhattan> when the penguins were cold and delicious
<emanhattan> and i knew i was gonna be
<emanhattan> consequence free

Thanks for the feedback guys~♪

drawing the eyebrows over the hair never looks good imo. her hair is covering her face, so they shouldn't be visible anyway.

The Good Ole Ant

and eyes thru the hair is a no-no as well

I dunno, I think bright fiery red hair could work in the winter!
I'm with everyone else on the colors and the eyebrow thing though, although I don't think "winter colors" are a necessity.
I think it could work depending on how far in the hair they are; in this case they're at a point where they should be completely hidden.
Can't help you out on poses and proportions though, I'm just starting to draw again myself

Keep it up; needs moar snow!

i wanted to make a mention of this too:
why not try using those warm colors to act as a contrast to all of the cool colors while letting the cool colors radiate off of the warm colors so it can blend together

just a thought

I heard that a Bioshock 2 demo is about and I got into a Bioshock mood. I've recorded a Baby Jane splicer before, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to attempt another take that sounds closer to the original voice actress (whoever she may be) since someone uploaded her dialogue after my random attempt over the summer (which sounds a bit too high in my opinion).

Maybe one of these days I'll attempt a Lady Smith. Didja know that her voice actress voiced for Wanda in "Fairly Odd Parents"?

Hmm... And if I get REALLY bored/inspired, I'll make up my own splicer. That'd be cool since they relied on LA talent to voice for the last Bioshock game... /ramble

Jeinu

ahaha i love that weird little giggle at the end

Hnilmik

@ Jeinu
That giggle was fun to do~ Baby Jane's giggle is so silly and unique~

@ Mal'akh
Oo; Huh! I never watched the Death Note anime, so I dug up a video featuring Misa's English VA.

I guess my Baby Jane recording does sorta sound like her, which isn't too bad ('cause the VA is in the biz, after all), but perhaps one of these days I'll be able to stand out in a crowd of voice actresses with my own qualities and abilities rather than blend in with the many whose regular, natural voices are high-pitched voices.

Anyhow, thanks for pointing that out! I like to keep note of who I sound like at times to think about who I'm up against in the future, especially when established VA's decide to try out for non-union things. Yay for Misa's VA living in Canada!

You're right about you and colors. God! It hurts to look at! Looks nice tho... Maybe just change the background?
