My current character demo. Which I plan on replacing very, very soon since I'm not too pleased with it from a technical standpoint and I want something to better represent what I'm capable of (voice and acting range-wise).

I draw as a hobby I want to be good at more than something I want to do for a living. Coloring isn't my strong suit (I still need to figure out how to pull off lighting properly) and I don't know structure for crap (I always draw eyes/face first and 98% of the time I don't know how the picture will turn out). I wanna take all kinds of art classes sometime. Though most of what I've learned is through dA tutorials, YouTube videos, and watching my friends draw, I feel I might be able to learn more if I took classes.

A doodle I did just now.

Sweeping, curving lines are fun to do~ I swear, I can do 'em all day.

Stuff I did several years ago.

I kinda like some of your doodles
Anyways always start with the basics from construction to actually learning how to draw etc
In other words keep drawing circles and find some books that could help you. I use Preston blair's cartoon animation book which has helped me quite a lot on how a character is formed but im sure there are some other things out there you could use. When you learn the basics from these things just experiment with what you know

My favorite has to be the colored one

then again, sorry for that question

i like how you're taking the designs and making recognizeable shapes out of them. you should try turning them into solid silhouettes and playing with that

Hnilmik

One of these days I'll sit down and fill in all those shapes and clean up the lines...

More old stuff...

And finally, newer stuff as time permitted.

My voice acting sample for this character: http://www.4shared.com/file/139982342/eddb...k_Princess.html
(Basically, for a video game challenge I hosted elsewhere. With horrid peaking, so that's my warning to turn down your volume a little. My sound quality improved since then.)

I love peacocks. They're very pretty~ Almost every picture I took of them for photography class turned out really nice~ I went to the LA Arboretum in Arcadia for these pictures (and video).

Quote3 videos of the peacocks I encountered at the Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia, right across from the Santa Anita racetrack. The City of Arcadia is interesting to me because aside from its flourishing, interesting Asian American community that I can identify with, there're wild peacocks in this city (at least, near the arboretum). The city's founder loved peacocks and let them live in the city, making it their mascot/symbol. There's even a law that you can't harm them. Yeah, they're loud and can eat up your gardens, but they're a pleasant sight and they were my favorite models during photography class~

A street performer at the Santa Monica Pier.

A picture of my sister (while we were doing something stupid and potentially dangerous) in Westminster/Garden Grove/whatever that city is called.

My classmates.

Of the pictures I took at Anime Expo 2009, this one is my favorite.

He looks like he's holding back a fart REALLY FUCKING HARD.

Your drawings look cool. I'm liking the shapes.

Philip K Dick

lmao if only he had the visor and uh... orange skin, he'd be a real godot

I voiced for Lucy in The Charlie Brown Murders. I should start counting the number of flashes I'm in where the character I voice for gets killed.

I sing mostly to practice (especially in the shower for the pleasant reverb-ish effect and the hot steam is kind to the chords), but I don't really have enough training to consider myself a good singer. One of these days I'll find a class to learn how to sing properly since I'm told that my natural speaking voice tends to be uneven, with or without projection. It's like my voice would crack or drop off if I change between notes.

Methinks it'd be cool if I can sing in a character voice someday.

Name those tunes?

Hnilmik

I voiced for Nathaniel Milburn's Wooshii.com commercial and it got released today~

that wooshii site is hilarious. the whole point of viral video is that it's spontaneous and unpredictable. you can't force or sell it. oh well i'm sure they'll figure that out sooner or later

I think their idea of being a middle man between marketers and artists is a nice idea, but the whole trying to profit off viral marketing I agree is a lot more difficult that they make it sound.

rtil

they probably know it's ironic but are trying to bank on the fact most people don't understand what viral video means

RobHalford

^

viral is meant to be spread by word of mouth. the dark knight had heavy marketing that included eerie text messages and a couple of fictional campaign websites with the joker's doodles all over them.

cloverfield had the same kind of marketing thats a better example

also not to get off topic, hnil you sounded really professional in the commercial but the beginning questions almost make you sound robotic. Questions with a pause often sound to tend weird but I think thats the writing and not the actual voice actor.

well yeah for a lot of us, we don't see it. but joe dumbfuck and sally sloppypants will see this and it will pique their interest.

I'll be honest, I was pretty confused as to how wooshii believes it can control viral marketing to make a profit out of it too. I can guess how folks can stumble upon certain things, but those are just trends, preexisting interests, and whatnot (kinda like video surfing on YouTube through "related videos") as opposed to something you can sell. I suppose we'll see what'll come of it.

@ J_Seed
Thank you very much for the feedback! It was my first real time voicing for a commercial and I had to tone down the energy to not "overwhelm" it (I was a bit more upbeat and sarcastic in the audition). You got a point that I do sound a smidge disconnected at certain parts though. I'm working on adjusting my energy levels the right way since too many people are casting me for "casual" instead of "animated" roles and it just won't do to come off as blah. Methinks I should be a bit more assertive, if that's the right word, in going off the script too... I see this is becoming a recurring problem on my end. /ramble

xx; (I wanna be cast in more crazy fun animations where I can go over the top...)

Again, thanks for the feedback! This is why I post my stuff here, after all!
