Im getting this exact same trouble with all of the 3D games in my computer, except once the sound starts looping, the computer crashes like 10 seconds later.

and thats what USED to happen to me and happens every once in a blue moon

Rtil, you MUST like the game if you\'re trying that hard to fix it. No one in their right mind would spend 6 hours trying to fix something they don\'t care about just for the sake of fixing it.

you don\'t understand me and computers - if there is a problem i think i can figure out i\'ll waste an entire day trying to figure out how to fix it, even if it\'s not mine

i checked out the steam forums and there are hundreds of people complaining about this with no real answer. it could be anything really, i\'ve changed a lot of stuff around and tried to isolate the problem with no real leads. it\'s certainly not a performance issue, i play company of heroes on full settings and get 30+ fps and that game has NEVER crashed or stuttered on me.

even if the game goes down to 2.50 i\'m not paying for a game that runs this poorly. i will keep trying to fix the problem as i am interested in what is causing it (hoping it\'s not hardware), but my free trial runs out tomorrow

I think it\'s because you\'re using XP x64 but I\'m not super sure, nor is that an acceptable reason for a game to be assed.

i don\'t think so because it was happening to people on xp, vista and 7, both bit versions. people had agreed that if you were getting the audio/loop stuttering that it was not a latency, performance or multicore issue. but that was about the only consensus

the closest i really got was emulating directX 8.1 with no anti-aliasing. but that doesn\'t really answer my question at all

i tried everything in there and the closest i got was -dxlevel 81. it seemed to work as long as i kept anti-aliasing off (?)

i use avira for antivirus and comodo for firewall. i completely terminated comodo and disabled everything on avira, as well as shutting off every other background application for one test. it didn't seem to make a difference

also rtil you should play when jseed is about. he can probably make private matches where you can fiddle with the classes with just a few people you know playing. that way we dont have spawncampers (fags who wait outside the health room and kill people the moment they come out and call it 'skill') and people whove been playing the game since back when it was called quake (like myself) blowin everyone to bits in violent skirmishes of blood and bile (unlike myself)

ive always thought of 2fort as a good "training" level. because its such a simple map, and most basic strategies work pretty well. you can play pretty much any class in 2fort and find some way to be useful.

problem is, the map gets very old and not fun after you've played it 10+ times
and after a while you'll notice how restrictive it is. (nothing but thin hallways. stinky.)


obviously if the game hasnt snagged your interest yet and its still buggy for you then [size=]f[/size] im just wasting post space

i'd like to hope you are at least having SOME fun with it. even if its just dicking around with the game mechanics.

if you do end up enjoying it enough to play it on occasion, im sure me or someone else could $$$ it for you, seeing as the game is cheap as hell. and 2 years old now. how do they make money off it still, I wonder.

if you get really good (and have a pc fast enough to power las vegas) the game becomes a frantic fun diversion that looks rather like this

I agree, I love playing with you guys
This game's just awesome to hop in on when a few of us are on.
From Ropin' it up with some of you in the early morning even to my one on one cart match with Red was just full of fun.

I wish I did have a PC that could power Las Vegas so I can play like that
I've been playing from the smallest res. window on my laptop, so I obviously need to get more of something.

I still haven't been on levels like 2Fort!

that guy was a really good scout

anyway, it was fun when i was playing with mostly you guys, but it wasn't fun when there were a lot of clanfags/achievement whores/people who take the game way too seriously (even though you can respond to anything they say with "u mad" and they will provide further entertainment)

i literally have no money right now, but i do have money coming in either at the end of this month or the beginning of january. even though i'm not 100% sure i figured out the stuttering problem, it's cheap enough that if i didn't it wouldn't have been a total waste. i'm still convinced there's a solution to it, and who knows maybe i did figure it out.

i did notice that most of the hardcore players would do the spawncamp/health thing, but that's why i like the spy because sometimes you can sneak around them and go do sneaky stuff. it's a little nerve-racking walking around with a disguise on though. some people were always able to tell you were a spy

Also, people like me will just shoot their team mates just to check if any blood splatters. Since there's no friendly fire, it's a great way to check.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!

I fixed up my server! Turns out one of my RAM slots is burned out. The good news is, it SHOULD still be able to support 16 people.

So J, if you want we can have 2 servers for a while to see how this performs. We could also just use this as a small private server and keep the other one as a full time dedicated public server. Whatever you want to do is cool.
