i hate it when people decide to stop eating a certain food because they found out it's from some massive farmer cooperation or whatever they're called, where the animals get treated like shit. If you ate it before and liked it, then you shouldn't stop just because you now know, years later, where it comes from.

i mean, it would be ok if everyone suddenly stopped buying from that place or places, so only natural farmers will get ahead, but that's not the case so it's just stupid in my opinion.

what's even more stupid are people who try to convince you not to eat a certain brand of meat or something, because the animals aren't treated well.

it's like non-smokers trying to tell smokers how to live their lives.

That's not the point, the point is that the way food is being processed can have dangerous effects on our health. While it's pretty well-known the dangers of smoking, the dangers of food are something most people aren't aware of

another point is that if EVERYONE had the same mentality as you do, NOTHING would ever change because everyone would assume that nothing was able to be changed

the video doesn't seem to be saying "don't eat chicken or beef", it's more like "don't eat shit if you don't know what it really is"

if you go to a farm and buy some chicken or beef then you KNOW where it came from and the farmer will probably even let you see hwo the animals were raised and fed

if you just buy shit then you wouldn't realize that pretty much everything that you eat is made of corn or a variant of corn (high fructose corn syrup) or corn is fed to cows (cows are allerigc to corn) and then that meat is fed to you

it really has nothing to do with the treatment of the animals, it's not a hippie flick. it has SOME shit involving the treatment of workers, but generally it's topics are corporate secrets and advertising and keeping us from knowing shit like how some meat that we buy is cloned meat and they just don't tell us so because they don't want us to not buy it

and im not some food activist either, i just think that high fructose corn syrup should be boycotted in some fashion

like we all drink imported mexican soda instead of american soda because mexican soda has sugar and not hfcs

well when i did go off it i didn't realize that i had until later, but it was all the soda i had been drinking. i was drinking at least 2 vanilla cokes every day on the weekdays when i was at school. all the big soda companies use a shitload of it as a sugar substitute. but there's a lot of food and drinks that don't have HFCS, even some major brands. i just check the ingredients before i buy something. you can find a healtheir alternative for every popular kind of food - it doesn't always mean that it's good for you, but it's better than the stuff that you would typically buy. and recently stevia - the "sweet leaf" plant that has been used as a sugar substitute for thousands of years but was outlawed in the united states as a sweetener by corn refiner lobbies to kill HFCS competition - has been legalized by the FDA as a sugar substitute. so you will start to see it in sugar packets and drinks. i drink this soda called Zevia that uses stevia and erythritol, a naturally occuring sugar fruit, to sweeten its drinks. they used to only be able to sell it as a "carbonated nutritional supplement" because of the law, but now they can sell it commercially.

and with the recent health crazes that have been sweeping america the past few years, they will start to commercialize it more. still, a lot of food branded as "organic" or healthy can still be pretty bad for you. all you gotta do is read the ingredients. i just try to avoid HFCS, high fat, high sodium or anything with an essay-list of ingredients and preservatives.
