Has the animation standards increased at all in the last two years for flash?

Flash has just gotten easier to hide your flaws with. In flash 8 they introduced blurs, and they keep adding shit like that. So for awhile the upped framerates were able to be used as a disguise for shitty art. Most likely you're just getting older and your sense of what sucks is less low now.

I was looking at NG the just earlier today (I used to go a lot in 03-04), and sqiugglevision is like super popular now. It makes sense for something like home movies which isn't trying to look good... but why the hell would you ink something 3 times badly instead of just inking it well one time?

I still don't get why people use the gradient tool in flash. It never looks good.

It really depends on who's popular at the time, because newgrounds is full of imitators. Back when I was 13 and I tried making my DCK knockoff, I had a lot of trouble voice acting because I thought I wasn't supposed to change my natural voice at all. The problem with NG is that the 'experienced' artists suck, because anyone who's really good usually just hates the site. So we even have people who imitate eddsworld's style, if you can call it a style.

It's definitely a lot easier to hide artistic flaws now than in the past but yeah, my standards for quality animation are a lot higher than it used to be.

It's more than just a couple of artists and my whole point was that standards for flash animation kept increasing as the years went by.

there were a bunch of great submissions in '08. just because you don't remember them doesn't mean that the quality of flash is decreasing. also, the list of movies you claim raise the bar were made from two or three people - there are dozens upon dozens of artists that made extraordinary things and you're ignoring them because adam phillips didn't submit a flash that year.

need we be reminded of that week "Bowser's Kingdom" got all 5 weekly awards in 2007?
