heres why pretty much everywhere sucks for showcasing and critiquing art and why i really do miss camp north

newgrounds: sonic vs. blakonic, sonic's evil twin? 5/5 perfect no flaws whatsoever

conceptart: great for critique but its mostly a league of its own. you have to be INSANELY good to even get noticed here. unless you pull a snapesnogger and throw a fit. that and a lot of people lean towards the same style

deviantart: mixed bag, a lot of shit unfortunately. most you'll get critique wise is 'i dont really like the colour of her shoes'. most comments are shitty jokes ("he looks angry xD!!!") or 'oh cool i like it'.

sheezyart: horrible, its deviantart with a myspace twist (music on your gallery page? really?) and most of the 'highly rated' art is either edward elric kissing link or fuckin shitty stupid meme youtube bastard poop fad stuff like what wonchop used to put in his flashes. sorry but if you have a sheezy account and you're over the age of 14 you should seriously think about what the hell you are fucking doing

nothing at all. camp north was a small site when it was around, and the crowd it attracted was definitely an alternative. but it's inevitable that as an art site grows it will become just like "the rest", though it showed a lot of promise. if it ever comes back it will be a nice addition to the art communities. afaic, deviantart is the best art site. it may have a lot of "shit" on it, but if you avoid the front page of the site, there's really not a whole lot to complain about. i just bookmark my updates page, watch the artists i like, and look for art that interests me. deviantart is so big that it would be hard not to find the niche you're looking for.

it's not good for critique, but i don't go looking around on the internet for critique, so that's not my main concern.
