i decided to stop playing video games in hopes of becoming more productive because of it.

I used to do a lot more art and be a much more creative person, and I think the reason I stopped is because I started playing a lot of videogames again, so I'm done. Hopefully it will work and I won't feel so lethargic and worthless anymore.

not that anybody cares, I don't even know why I'm posting this here, I guess I kind of want to see people's reaction to this idea.

<+ansel> i lure children into my van with candy and then i read them passages from 'the origin of species'
<%ropesnake> billy con ends with billy raping his cat

you must have played a lot of video games for it to make you completely unproductive

It's not that I play a ridiculous amount of videogames, it's just that ever since I really started playing videogames again, maybe back in 2007, I haven't done nearly as much art or flash animation, due to the fact that I couldn't really be motivated to do anything. Whenever I think "hey I'm bored, what should I do" it pretty much almost always ends up in playing some form of videogames. I used to BARELY play any, and during that time I was REALLY productive. I can't really make a direct connection between videogames and my productivity, but since I started playing them a lot more, I've been getting just "decent" grades, and I've barely touched flash, where as I used to be animating at least something every day. Now when I touch flash, the first thing I draw is something out of a videogame, or whatever, and it just makes me give up and want to play games again, which in turn makes be feel useless, since you're not really accomplishing anything worthwhile when playing games.

is it safe to assume you were playing an MMO?

No, I've never played an MMO simply because I've been afraid to become some world of warcraft nerd. Plus, those games don't require any skill, and thus make me feel even LESS productive than playing a regular game.

That is what I spend 99% of the time I played videogames playing. Aside from the Left 4 Dead thing, that's basically exactly the same as me.

The thing is though, if I just take away TF2, I'm gonna find some other game to take up all my time, so I decided i need to completely avoid games all together.
