I heard they were remaking dragonball Z but with modern art and less fillers.

Dragonball Z isn't really that great of an anime, but I watched it a lot as a kid so I kinda got attached to it.
What do you guys think of this?

they're not remaking it. they're rerecording the voice acting with the original (japanese) actors, enhancing the original footage, extending it to 16:9, and cutting out the filler. If you've already seen all of dbz you arent going to get any more insight from kai. regardless, i will be watching kai because i like dragonball z and i havent seen it since i was a kid.

I think with the live-action movie being all of the original Dragonball encompassed into one thing and Kai starting off with a flashback detailing all of Dragonball's plot, this makes for a perfect deal in case there were kids in Japan that were like "oh this Dragonball thing's kinda cool, I think I'll actually go find the source material". This premiered like, a week or two after Evolution came out in Japan, so it works out pretty well marketting-wise.

Hopefully FUNi'll pick it up soon and release it over here as soon as they come up with a plan for it.

Yeah they'll get everyone back, they always do, even though half the cast is split across the country by this time :B

What I'd actually really like is if the script adaptation were done the way it's supposed to be and not simply them writing whatever they want and keeping the basic storyline as it is. As much as I like the english adaptation simply because I grew up with it, I feel like a lot of the characters were changed from what they were intended to be because of all the liberties the writers took. What we hear in the video games these days is a lot more faithful to how the script should be, mainly because it's a more direct translation and not an adapation. They probably won't go that route, mainly because the "unfaithful" version of DBZ we got is what made FUNimation a ton of money in the first place. Ah well :[
