waste of life thread

how many of you play mmorpgs? which one are you currently wasting your life on? which ones have you in the past?

currently i am wasting my life on warhammer online. mythic entertainment came to my game design class to see our projects and they thought mine was the best, so they gave me a copy hell ya

previously i have wasted my life with world of warcraft and final fantasy xi (huge waste of life)

please share your experiences

Never really bothered, i mean its essentially a job that sucks money out of you which isn't really a rewarding experience

mundane tasks in real life = money
mundane tasks in video game land = anti-money

that and the only slow-paced games i like are the zelda ones

My housemate plays WoW a LOT and apart from exploring some neat worlds and playing with other people i've never got the appeal

i mean he's on for 6 hours a day sometimes

yeah, i agree. i usually stop playing mmos when they get mundane. i don't understand these people who play wow all day and complain about how boring it is

Never played one yet.

Two of my friends keep bugging me to play WoW, but I don't have the time nor the wallet
to put into it on top of what I already do...

i used to play Guild Wars alot
they said that once you reached the highest level, which was 20, the fun begins but i had more fun leveling up

after that you have to search for the best combination of spells, cos you are only allowed 8 in battle
they did that so the 'best player' isnt the one who has the highest level but the one with the best skills

in Guild Wars, it doesnt count whether you are lvl 2 or 20, its the skill that counts, in other words google the best spells for your profession and youre done /the game

a few years ago I got really into Maplestory. Art is great, scenery is diverse, music is calming, and its fun if you ignore everyone else. Of course over-powering korean-anime characters and a newfound fervor in the want for money-spending drained my enthusiasm, but it was fun while it lasted.

I try to stay from time-drains like that though, because I get easily addicted to that kind of stuff.

I used to play WoW, Ragnarok on a private server, phantasy star 1&2 if you consider it an MMO, as well as tons of those crappy "free" MMO's with cash shops though I'm proud to say I never wasted any money on those.

Right now I'm crossing my fingers for the knights of the old republic MMO to be good, I've always wanted to play a starwars MMO but the only choice has been Galaxy and I hear that it's gotten worse with every update.

my personal record is getting to level ten in ragnarök
smaller feats include playing tibia for two hours without stopping when I was 11 and beating a guy online in gunbound
I waste my life in other things.

the only mmorpg that's ever appealed to me is Maple Story, just because I love the sprites and it was pretty fun when I played it. I already waste too much time playing video games to play any kind of game like that, though

back in junior high everone in my school payed tibia

so I did

It was awful all I could do was kill rats and insult kids that didnt speak my language

I quit it after like 3 combined hours of gameplay

I still have friends that play it but they dont really "play" they have a bot or something and it plays the game for them.

One of my friends uses this strategy to virtualy crop a lot of high level characters and then sells them to idiots in real life
