well I dunno, it's getting pretty "usual". There have been a fuckload of school shootings all over the world since Columbine, which I think started that super cool "trend".

We did an article about this sorta thing in film studies, in the 90's it was films (which Natural Born Killers then satirized, even though it INFLUENCED some idiots after it was released due to the characters' philosophy), and from 2000-up its been video games.

yeah it's stupid. It's not videogames making people violent, it's violent people who like playing these games. Saying that all the school shooters played these games (which ain't even true, this one for example only watched horror movies) and that's why they did it is stupid. They all eat bread, too, you can't really generalize that.

If someone has a potential for violence he plays these games, not the other way round.

edit: whoops sounds wrong. I don't want to say that only violent people play these games.

But people aren't satisfied with hearing that he was most likely just sick in the head, they want better answers.

A more newsworthy cause is something people can relate their kids probably doing, like playing video games or listening to metal.

I personally blame the hormones in milk, because that God damn milk industry has been taking it easy for far too long.

The University of Texas massacre is the one that created this clearly intelligent and civilised craze as the shootings (well the media reported/worthy) start happening more frequently afterwards. The earliest school massacre in the 20th century i could find was the Bath school disaster in 1927, which if you don't count the Belsan School attack is the worst one. Guess it is the man who starts the craze who does it best.

^No it wasn't at a school.  It was in Alabama and it was some crazy guy hunting down every member of his family and killing them along with a deputies wife and child.  The other child was shot and is still in critical condition.  I watch the news every morning.
