This is a Dangerbox Music Video to the song, "Act" by Mjoaa & Trone I got commissioned to do a while back.

The visuals and animated soundwaves are heavily inspired by a scene from Ratatouille, in which I tried to animate the music itself, since Techno lends itself very well to digital graphics. I also tried to apply a full spectrum of color in its correct order as he travels on his long walk, as well as different colors that fit with the living beings seen throughout the video. Specifically for the people, I made eye-colors reflect their current emotions. The Blue Guy's eyes remain either blank, or just closed for most of the film until his own emotions are forcibly brought out by the choice to act or not at a critical moment.

I didn't have a long time to work on the project due to school, but it turned out as a great experiment and I'm content with the final product's look. I'm curious to know what you guys think of it, so lemme have it.

Im gonna say that I did enjoy watching that. Although that first part of the walk cycle when the blue guy walks was really akward looking. It's stylish and the animated sondwaves were nice.

Crabarms

Pretty cool.
Love the guy with small feet walking with the trench coat.

Kirbopher

Thanks, I was afraid he was too dark for people to see but I figured that color would go well with the part of the spectrum the city was up to at the time.

i was commissioned by dangerbox a while ago but they never paid me.

Kirbopher

They mentioned they got you and someone else from the RWDers, was Billy the other?

I made sure to get the first half of the payment when I got decently into the production. Since they were kinda giving me free reign to do what I wanted, by the time I had the idea laid out and showed it to the one dude I was messaging with about it, I asked for the first half of the payment. He made sure to get me the other half right after I finished it and waited for approval, etc. You should contact 'em, did you finish whatever it was they asked for?

yeah, they just didn't like it and didn't want it, so they told me i had messed up the specs even though i had saved the conversation and used exactly what they told me. So they said don't worry about redoing it, we'll just get ed to do another one. so i just blocked him. i couldn't stand to talk to him any more, his horrible typing bugged the shit out of me.

edit; i should also mention that it wasn't an animation, it was just an album cover.

Kirbopher

Oh okay, it sounded like they were having some of you guys do music videos too.

Some Australian indie label asked me to do one as well, but the prospect of paying me for it sounded like it intimidated him.

nice, definitely better than anything else you've made

i thought the experimental stuff and the background drawings were the best part. but ill be honest i didnt particularly like the style of the characters, and there was no real narrative. i felt like the strongest part was the beginning and it got repetitive from there on out. the fight at the end seemed more like an animatic than a finished product. also, you could have made some sort of subtle pulsating white flashes go to beat of the music, would have been an easy effect and would have added a lot rhythm wise.

still, good job doing something original

i love how you made an alt for it... as though anything non videogame related would forever tarnish your main account lmao
I have more of a life writing this review at 1145 pm than you guys do making these movies. . .

Or if you don't wanna read the "text wall", this isn't an alt account, I'm not covering up the Kirbopher title or anything. I'm gonna be putting all of my newer and fully original projects like this on that account specifically, for if in the future I need to show professionals or industry people in the future my best work offhand I can simply link them to this.

Anyway! The little pulsating stars that come during the yellow scenery I supposed were similar to what you're thinking of with the pulsating flashes. I tried not to go nuts on the glow effects and built-in filters and what not since they seem to lag the movie out. Some of the still-shots near the end, which thankfully people seemed to be okay with, the blur effects didn't always show up. Didn't think of that specifically though.

i wouldnt exactly be linking industry people to newgrounds you should make your own site for that

I'll be revamping my site later on for such when more of those other listed projects are done. Doesn't -solely- apply to industry people or anything, again it's mainly just for convenience's sake.

I think i got a PM from these guys, but they had spelt 'business' wrong in the title.

so i deleted it without even reading it because i thought it would be from a moron who got angry about one of my neg. reviews or one of the troll flashes i put out last year (which generated a surprising amount of hatemail)

Also kirb that was the best thing you've ever done by far

and it has a lower score than most of your stuff urghhhh fucking newgrounds

right the stars were good but im not talking filters and glow and fancy shit. im talking a big white or bright yellow box symbol which covers the stage. it would flash in to the beat and quickly fades out in like 3 frames. wont cause anything to lag but you can get people feeling the beat a lot better. combined with his walk cycle and the stars it would match the music nicely i think

yeah. And its probably one of the flashes you have worked the most in.

The Neo-C thing was cool i must admit.

The animation was stylish and colorful. Like f0d mentioned, the fight thing at the end looked like an animatic.

Overall I think its good. not great but good.

still.

kudos to you for trying something new. It shows you really will make an effort to improve.

Kirbopher

Thanks guys, I'm glad y'all specifically like how this turned out. The Parody Rangers movie still has to be done, but trust me when I say I'll be doing stuff a LOT more like this now.

I'm cool with this not getting so much attention, honestly I don't give a shit if it even gets front page or not, I got what I wanted out of it and that's plenty for me :]
