WikiFlash - we need a new name.

wikiflash will be coming to thebackalleys sometime this summer. however, we need a new name for it. because there is a site called flashwiki.net, and i'm not sure i want the names to be so close. they have around 400 articles, but the content and the design of the site is nothing like what i have planned for the flash community. i have much bigger plans than these people do, and i have ideas for more organized templates.

which also reminds me, i need help developing it and getting it ready to introduce to the community. do any of you have any knowledge on wiki software, or know someone who does and would be willing to help me? it's a tough job doing it alone on top of my personal projects and commissions.

Like I said before I'll volunteer with helping out with the Wiki. I'm not sure of how much help I can provide, but I've edited some Wiki pages before, yes I'm very juvenile, so I'm a bit familiar with the code and then I know some HTML which is basic anyways. What areas would you need help with exactly?

FlashWiki is a joke. Only half of the site actually has anything to do with flash (and it's pretty easy to say that the guy who made the site probably knows nothing about flash or what it was originated for). The rest of what's left (which is actually a lot) is all based around overrated pricks like LegendaryFrog and bbs mods/faggots (difference?) that do nothing aside from sit on ng all day and close topics made by faggots who want people to make movies using their scripts. really who gives a fuck about ng mods?

since the idea for "flash wiki db" has already been taken, forget stupid shit that came from me like flashasaurus. I say go and make a wiki about animation that isnt just talking about stupid faggots from the internet who in the case of most of them can't animate or are overrated in the end. out of the ideas for names i listed in my first reply to yer topic, i say wikimation is the only one i like because it actually matters and will give material to people who really want to learn the traditional/graphic art of animation, not just some faggots from newgrounds who want to be popular. my suggestion to ya is make it all about animation and just make flash a subcategory or something

Yet the Flash program is also used by some who do not wish to animate their work, but just rather it as their prefered paint program?  Instead of Photoshop and such.

Flash was originally designed for web graphics, not animation. Animation was just considered an extra added 'bonus'. Nowadays instead of seeing the internet for what it is and what it likes, adobe still makes flash for web graphics. That is why each flash going up from 7 in animation is barely different aside from exports and filters.

But I commonly use flash as my drawing program as well because I'm not really that good with photoshop anyway. Aside from that I only see it as an animation tool, I never even bother with actionscript and trying to use it for web design etc etc etc

To me flash is only a tool, a wiki shouldn't be limited to it. A wiki should be broader in my opinion and has more coverage. Besides, once you cover flash essentially you're only covering what FlashWiki covers. If you cover animation and shit you're covering the good part of FlashWiki and a LOT more
