when releasing a proud flash

is it just me but when you think you have achieved something decent in flash and have really liked the outcome and are about to release it, you start to get a bit anxious and a little worried about how people are going to react to it?

i get butterflies for some reason, especially when i release a flash i think i've made really well and put tons of effort into on to ng. it's weird, hard to explain but does this happen to any other flash artists out there?

it's sort of a good feeling too, like you're anxious to see how much praise you get, if any. you also become really competitive against anyone else who has submitted.

maybe thats just me though

yeah i do if its something i really like but i usually don't give much of a thought to it since i know it aint goin anywhere and also newgrounds is really shit + gay

i purposely release flash so that the second after i do it i can\\\'t look at it for at least another 8-10 hours. otherwise i keep seeing if someone has reviewed it, the score it\\\'ll get when it passes judgement, etc

although i do that less now because i\\\'m gradually starting to completely not care

i mean if we really cared about scores and we know some people do, we\\\'d make flash cartoons specifically for the purpose of getting high scores

which means they\\\'d be really really gay

Yea I do that all the time with somethin I worked hard on. Havent really worked hard on any solo flash of mine though for a year however!

And ye its kinda gay but I mean I submit my stuff on NG for a reason. I want people to react to it and see how they reacted. Whether they enjoy my stuff or not etc. Ultimately it wont change what I do but it's nice to see. I mean if I didnt want to see how anyone reacted to my stuff, Id prolly submit it to somewhere else that doesnt allow reviews! But thats like putting your hands over your ears an goin "lalalalal cant hear you Im perfect! lalalal".

Not that the NG audience knows what theyre talking about anyway

Yeah, when I release a flash, I do it right before I fall asleep/have to go to school. Same with anything else I release (new chapters of stories, new art, etc.).

If anyone says they're not anxious, they're lying. I go all OCD and start checking over the artists' comments and shit to make sure there are no mistakes. :C

I bet I could make a really high scoring flash in a week. It'd be about Mario and Sonic and make funny jokes about strange things in each of their respective worlds. Better get started C:

its not just you i used to feel the same way all the time. whenever i submitted a solo project or a collab i organized with a ton of time and effort put into it, i would get nervous as fuck that people would hate it. the funny thing is most of the time i ended up being right. it would always pass judgment and out of the top 50 with like 500 views and if i got lucky and tom frontpaged it, i'd get flooded with bad reviews and get pulled before breaking 15000 views. the only flash that got a positive response right off the bat was wadefulp internet fagass.

the MOST nervous ive ever been was before releasing dailytoon 400... the first one submitted on daily day took a huge hit because people were pissed about everything else that had been submitted on that day. i was fuckin crushed after that, so 6 months later when the finished version got somewhat positive reaction, that was nice. still, all the stressful ass buildup made me never want to submit anything worthwhile to NG ever again.

that's why i liked dailytoons so much, there was no pressure. you passed judgment no matter what. you could submit anything you wanted and no one would ever see it unless it made the best of edition. too bad they got old and people stopped sending us shit

You've been away from the portal to long F0d, the crews and independant spammers have fucked Pbot so hard anything will pass into its ass. I still get a little excited when I first submit a flash, but then I remember that it will pass with a 2.0 no matter how much I put into it.

The only thing I care about is how many idiots I can hook into writing abusive reviews on it. Has my soul decayed?

and yeah rtil i usually submit before i goto bed, and sleep for about 8 hours but if i wake up earlier than normal, i cant get back to sleep cause i'll be thinkin about how my flash is doin lmao.

But seriously if you care what the NG userbase thinks of your flash, you need to reevaluate your goals as an artist. I make shit because I enjoy making flash and drawing for all parameters. Submitting it to NG and recieving a reaction is an added bonus.

Like jacking off on an old woman instead of solo.

i haven't been away that long, it was like that when i left. shit, i helped make it that way with those 200 crappy dailytoons i helped organize. they slowly got higher scores and less views over time, meaning the 300 or so stat whores who scan the portal for b/p points were voting 5 on them without watching everyday without giving a thought to the work put into them.

its actually a big reason i don't want to submit anything there anymore, it just feels like it isn't worth the effort. sure its fun when you get a negative reaction, but that gets stale. when you get a positive reaction, you almost feel like you pandered to an audience you want nothing to do with. but the worst is when you get no reaction whatsoever, which is the majority of the time now that the site is so fucking huge and commercial.

so anyways i guess my point is i don't give a fuck what NG thinks, that's why i never visit there anymore. but i do care what some of the people on NG think, namely you guys.
