Okay... my friend Scout made a journal yesterday about the virginia tech shooting on his deviantart account.

I don't have a copy of it because apparently he's suspended from dA for a while.

For what I recall, while jokingly saying 'this is what happens when asian kids lose at starcraft', in the journal he said that he doesn't really care about it because there are so many other things happening in the world that it doesn't matter, and -also- that if he knew any people that went there, it might be different, but his opinion still stands.

So, after writing a journal about that, he's now suspended...

No offense, but I don't blame them for suspending him. Yes, many people will be sick of hearing it on the television, but no one should say that it doesn't matter, especially posting it on the internet where more than one person is bound to read it.

everyone is too ready to blame someone in any way, from what i know, people should only get all pissy about something if it at least indirectly affects them, (your friend's friend) but thats as far as it should go.

people get to bent out of shape over things that really don't effect them at all, and events that happen get blown all out of proportion, this many not be one of them, but it happens a lot and it's stupid.

What happened at the college in the US was pretty tragic to hear.  I try to steer away from the hype the media incorporates though, and how activists abuse it for say... tougher gun laws.  I'm sure many outside Australia aren't familar with the Port Arthur massacre that took over 30 lives as well because of a crazed semi-automatic gunman.  It's a page of history though.  No one really cares.  Unless if it's in the melodramatic media den of the world, [cough]America;[/cough] things slide by fairly quickly.  No offence, of course.  The Virginia Tech tragedy deserves coverage... yet...  I'm sure the victim's families would rather be alone in their time of mourning, than be shoved in front of a camera.  It can come across as superfluous.
