I dont quite think the beatles are overrated, cuz its not a matter of liking them or not.

listen to music made before the beatles, and hear music now.
They helped making a difference with that old lolish music ;p

There's too many "Gangsta, RnB, Pimp Daddy I AM SO RICH SUCK MY DICK BITCH" shit at the moment.

Same with there's too many Pop / Emo Bands, that play the same old freakin romeo and juliet teenage soap opera crap.

There is no such thing as originality anymore : (

dude have you guys considered browsing through last fm ? ^^

there's tons of good music even in the last 5-10 years
well depends on you guys' taste, but what bout of Montreal ? architecture in Helsinki ? postal service ?

I believe these bands started in the last decade and its definitely good music !
I dunno I'd list more but there's too much ;p
Also, not only america produces music dudes, check out stuff from other countries, there's some damn hot stuff out there (= (ska P ? hehehheeheh)
Turn off the radio, and start browsing for music YOU like ;p

i never listen to the radio intentionally. i usually find music due to word of mouth.

I listen almost exclusively to electronic and ambient music. Squarepusher, Aphex twin, Boards of Canada, that kind of stuff.

i used to be signed up to last .fm but the sheer idiociy of the member base made me hate the place and i ended up deleting my account . i guess you can find stuff through their whole "similar artists" thing, but unless you know what you're looking for you're not going to find new stuff, just stuff that sounds the same.
