What we are witnessing now are no longer spambots. they are real people, because they have to input a code in a slightly distorted image in order to be able to even complete their registration.

but a continuing trend i have noticed with them is that they tend to use bogus e-mail addresses. so, i have turned on e-mail validation for new users.

so now, if you see a spam post, the person put in the verification code, went to their inbox, validated, then posted. that's a whole hell of a lot to go through to just post one spam message here.

if this doesn't stop them, i'm going to do some research on what stops these guys. for now, i hope they are at bay once again.

well, you could just jack there IP address (you can more easily since your the admin) and by reverse engineering a root kit (I've got a good one, totally fucked up my system, had to wipe it and reinstall the OS) and bitch slap them with it, and post a warning on the sign-up page of your ability to retaliate. I'm sure this'll get them.

also, registrations that aren't validated within 15 days will automatically be deleted. now i don't have to go into the admin cp every day and purge them myself.
