what about family guy is awesome, and i mean as an animated cartoon?

people seem to love it for its excessive flashbacks and references to pop culture. i don't think that's what makes a cartoon great, though.

Family Guy is awful, it has too many cutaways and repeated jokes. Having two characters "shooting the breeze" with each other in the middle of an episode for five minutes was funny once, and now it's old. If the only way that Seth whatshisname can be funny is by having random jokes that require various situations for comedy, don't make a sitcom, make an animated sketch comedy show or something. But most importiantly, stop trying to be stupid and start trying to be FUNNY.

You make a really good point, richchap. the routine is really old and washed out now. it was funny maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Now it's a very tired concept.

i think the problem with the whole "flash-back" thing is that the good ones have nothing to do with the episode itself, so it's imposable to find the good ones if thats all you wanna see.

That's the problem with it.

Family Guy is essentially a "random" show. It's like being in a room with 10 college age guys, tape-recording their mindless conversation and jokes, then scrambling and making a show about it.
