I need help

so currently i'm working at a day camp doing tech stuff such as network stuff, general cleaning, helping the kids get to addicting games. but today my boss comes in and tells me he set up a flash animation specialty camp for like 5 kids ages 9-13 and theres no one to teach it but me since all the other tech people have never used flash.
i've used flash for about 3 years but, obviously, have never finished anything so i was wondering if anyone had some advice on how and what to teach kids about flash in a week so they can go off into the world and submit nicely tweened sprites onto newgrounds

i would probably run them through a bouncing ball test , and in the process you can teach them about symbols, tweening, onion skin, maybe even a little traditional animation and the theory behind squash and stretch and timing

teach them how to shape tween cuz I couldn't figure out how to do it for like 6 months which is ridiculous cuz its so simple and I was already doing more advanced stuff for the longest time. hmm. Pendulum swing is fun. I really don't think you should try to overload them with Walk Cycles and shit though I mean they are 9-13, maybe there is an ambitious one in there who would try it on his/her own anyway though.

thanks for the advice. yea i'm not sure why its only a week but i'm glad cause i only have like a week to prepare and i know i'm gonna move too fast through it...


edit: any ideas for a project that they could accomplish? like a 30 second something that they could show off to their parents so they tip me?

Just grab something off the Alternate Metal Gear collab... or you could have a sunset with a nice background to show shape tweens. Have a bird or 2 fly by to show off motion tweens. just some simple shit like that. Of course, you should provide the art.

shit. i didn't even think about that. i dunno if i can get the wacoms for the summer or even if the kids can draw...
i was thinking maybe just get them to create like little clips about like just simple creatures made out of shapes or something...

Flash animation loops. They're easy, they look good, they don't take much effort (really), etc etc.

I made a bunch on Waste of Pixels (all of the ones that are up except for /s/ and /b/, and I only did the rain effects on /w/)

Would you believe that the only thing I animated on this was the 5 frames for the shooting star? Everything else is taken care of by actionscript in under 10 lines of code. And that includes { and } on their own lines.

ok so i started today and its fuckin rough. i got one kid who took the class already so hes bored with learning the basics and keeps making these horrible tween sticks fighting movies that are just pictures tweened around and the rest of the time he sits there making up hand jitsus or whatever from naruto. then i got one kid if he had any patience would be a great animator, he pretty much master the frame by frame ball bounce in one go but refused to figure out how to stretch and squash it. and the final kid who is 9 and prolly shouldn't be there is too shy to do anything without it being checked. yeesh
