i think i am going to try ultimate x64 and xp on a dual boot

no one believes me but vista has not once crashed on me

vista has never crashed once on me from when i used it, in fact any version of windows never crashed on the laptop i am using..

how many terabytes does vista fill with its bloated dongles?

i don't know but i wouldn't say much since it can be installed fully featured and functional on UMPCs with small SSDs and run perfectly fine.

plus hard drives hold a crazy amount of data these days so that is nothing to bitch about anymore

95 crashed every two minutes
98 crashes about twice in however many years I have used it
XP crashes almost every week
vista bluescreened on me six times

but OS X crashes or locks up at least once a day so yeah

I still don't like vista though. the layout is fucked up, the start button is a circle, minesweeper has sound effects, it looks like shit, it has brain-damaged default security settings (telnet is apparently disabled by default, what the fuck), and there are a lot of other things I don't like about it.

not the issue if it is a good computer or shitty one

it is more of the fact of the premium they charge you for absolutely horrible hardware they hide under an apple logo, it is insane

not only that, it is proprietary so you have no choice but pay a shitlord for apple hardware to run osx legally, even their memory is proprietary now.

i remember buying memory for my laptop, and the desktop equivalent for apple cost literally over 10 times as much

a lot of artists are really prissy when it comes to mac vs pc, too bad they don't know they're getting ripped off royally
everything mac is spoon fed to the consumer. you can't even open the case without voiding the warranty, and parts and repair is through the roof unless you can prove that their hardware was DOA without you touching it
the fact you can't build your own mac is a frightening enough reason for me to never buy one, if all the middle aged people at mac stores in the mall gawking at iphones as if they reinvented the wheel weren't bad enough

anyway, my real qualm with vista is the slowdown in performance due to shoddily ported XP drivers. i know that's all 3rd party business making the OS look like shit, but i really don't have any issues with XP and the only OS i've ever had major issues with was ME. i am going to buy the parts sooner than the end of the summer, but i do have time to look around and make sure all the hardware i have doesn't have a horrible driver for vista. if that is the case, i just might switch over. because i know in a few years finding updated XP drivers is going to get harder and harder.

macs look the way they do at a cost though, i\\\'ve heard of macs idling at 81C and those new macbook airs overheat a lot
