but i felt really bad after lauch said "DT400 is underrated and you are all faggots!" when tom read that, he frontpaged it. a few hours later, gavin said something racist in the same thread and it got taken off the front page faster than any other flash i've ever seen.
that was pretty crushing ive got to admit. it felt like the entire two months of work we all had put into it had gone to waste. it has only taken 6 months to release part 2 because we completely lost all motivation.

you lost motivation, but Tom didnt take it down because someone said something stupid,,,, again,  he took it down because it wasn't really getting a better score from being there. again, you gotta do what you feel good about, if your ss crew likes your shit and you like you shit, nothing really matter. any other props should be just icing anyways and not the goal.

honestly, you feel really fucking inadequate when a flash that you slaved over gets a 3.2 after passing judgment. then, after several days of being ignored, it gets front paged, but only because some faggot was bitching at an admin about it. then they do so much bitching, it gets taken off the FP prematurely. i dunno to me it felt like the ultimate failure. i wouldve been happier if it hadnt got FP at all.

well it got taken off because it wasn't doing well.
tom factors in his decision along with scores and  hits. it really makes sense and its only fair.
think about every blockbuster movie thats ever bombed. all the hard work that goes into that.
I mean shit stuntman died in waterworld, and that still turned out a mess.
sometimes shit don't go as planned.  you cant be mad at the world for it.

yeah well NG appreciates but it still needs work bro. you could A) work on getting better, or B. spam the portal and call everyone that votes low on your stuff morons and assholes.

the top 50 is good for the most part, but you can't deny that the flashes there now are simply not as good as some of the flashes that used to be there. all of the old classic flashes would peak at around 4.2, and now theyve been pushed out of the top 50 by this new generation of users that overrates everything videogame or newgrounds related into the 4.6 range.

videogames are relevant.  its a sad fact, but thats what people like. Tom started the site doing parodies on games celebrities and movies. its whats relevant and you cant get mad at it.

point me to any animator and I can show you what what style they use and what was relevent to that style.  Bug and Zek like to kick it oldschool. and those old school toons were all about parodies of stars, imitations of vaudeville slapstick.. basically what was relevant. and Im sure there where hecklers back then that got tired of it like you did,

anyways if i submitted my best material i could probably be in the top 50 myself. i just have no desire to please NG's target audience anymore. i know what works on NG and what doesn't work, and i simply do not want to conform to what works. consider my two flashes that have actually earned significant attention, WadeFulp Internet Badass and Ultimate Videogame Battle. that pretty much says it all right there. in order to make a popular flash, i had to leach off the popularity of something else that is more popular with NG users. in the 2 years since i made those, ive made way higher quality material that few besides SS members have noticed

if you are trying to make "art" then you should be satisfied with your work regardless of views.

regardless, my theory about the NG public doesn't concern the top 50. it concerns the judgment system, which is flawed beyond recognition. even you cant deny that

every system has its flaws, nothing is ever perfect. and considering this is the only flash site that allows its viewer to delete its content, its still the most ambitious.
the truth is , you need to get better.  theres no way around it.  no real excuses can be made.
while there are gimmick flashes getting alot of hits. its the ones showing any real skill that hold out the longest
