Well Ive known how to shade like that for awhile! I just didnt do it in DT 400 cause I wanted it done fairly quick and I didnt feel like drawing on the shades and having to animate each color when the character moved!

And Blordow, you're contributions are some of my favorites! I wasnt able to see the clown one until just now! It was wonderful!

Wade is not gay, read his profile! It's sad that you would use sexual orientation as a joke, shows that you have no real sense of humor.

This is definitely going to be better than the official collab. That would be funny if this collab turned out more successful than the official one.

there was also about 2 or 3 i didnt put in the list because they werent funny and people were saying to not include them in the movie or something so I probably made an error or some shit but yeah...

Oh theres a lot of new replies but yeah. I edited your new links into my post okay blordow. I really like the clown one too
Quote from: CoolDrMoneyAnd I imagine some of these are going to get cut in the final production
Yeah I was thinking that... We could always release a second movie with the ones that didn't make it into the official one yeah? Just so nobody feels left out or.. ye
Oh, wretched ephemeral race ... why do you compel me to tell you what it would be most expedient for you not to hear? What is best of all is utterly beyond your reach: not to be born, not to be, to be nothing. But the second best for you is—to die soon.

We should try and fit as many of these as possible in. We really, really should. The longer this drags out to be, the better.

yeah thats what I was hoping for but honestly theres no way you could fit all of these movies we have so far into a 10mb swf file, that still has good sound quality... hmm.

Well like I said a long time ago we should try to get Tom to give us a wee bit more of an upload size for this movie or something unless theres some crazy good compression techniques in Flash that I don't know about, which is entirely possible but I doubt it.

I don't know okay

well try first and if you cant upload it in the 10 meg, let me know whos doing the uploading and Ill talk to tom about upping the space,  just make sure  every song is cut to whats needed , etc

rtil

also make sure you convert any WAV files to MP3 . you can do this in audacity and getting the lame_enc.dll file (free download, google it) which is needed to convert to mp3, and you can also do it in a free program called CDex. you can do it in CDex by going to options > settings, then choosing the encoder tab and selecting Lame MP3 in the drop-down menu, then selecting a decent bitrate (128 is fine). then go to the filenames tab and select a file destination for your conversions in the WAV -> MP3 box. now close that and go to convert > re-encode audio files, and browse to your WAV files and hit convert and it will send them to their destination. then you can swap them in the fla. i say this because wav files are typically gigantic, and even though flash does a god job at compressing we need to optimize our files as much as possible. let's say there's 35 pieces and we have a 15MB limit. that's 425KB per part.

are we using 64kpbs at Best for export, and what jpeg quality.

It'd be easier to check our final .swf size if we could test it at what the final settings will be you know what im sayin yeah

Quote from: bugyeah, guys, i know how to compress a flash movie ive only been using the program for like 5 years now!!

there are defnetly over 30 submissions, some of them were just sent to me over aim so you didn't see them.

so yes there may be a chance I cut some of these out, not only from a filesize standpoint but also from a pacing one.

or maybe i can just submit two flashes hmm

no don't do that it's too beautiful to split

anyway i need a voice for my part guhuuhhhghh

pretty long post vvv
Quote from: bugyeah, guys, i know how to compress a flash movie ive only been using the program for like 5 years now!!
I wasn't trying to make fun of your compression abilities or something like that I was just sayin that well my two .swfs alone are each over 1mb I think so I was kind of wondering if theres a way I could compress mine in some way actually... Without losing sound quality, taking out a lot of the length, etc.

Quote from: bugso yes there may be a chance I cut some of these out, not only from a filesize standpoint but also from a pacing one.
Yeah your going to have to cut some out unless for some reason you can compress it all better using something like Flash CS3 or something I think gerkinman said cs3 compresses it more than 8? I don't know okay
Quote from: bugor maybe i can just submit two flashes hmm
if people want to see all of the parts we created, and we want to see the same, then we're going to have to submit two flashes. Unless of course we can get all of the parts into a reasonably semi-large filesize and get MC to talk Tom into giving us a bigger file space to upload it!!

Honestly I'm not trying to be a fag or whatever people may think I'm doing by worrying about the filesize so much, I'm being realistic, this is a fucken huge and glorious movie and *I can pretty much guarantee that by cramming all 30+ parts we like into it it's going to be a wee bit bigger than 10mb.

*not that you guys can't tell but you guys aren't worrying about it so yeah I don't know I guess im being um overly worried or something like that....

mp3 sometimes goes off sync in flash. Even though it makes the file size a lot bigger, I think it's better to have a big fla for the convenience of not having to wait a year to export and to remove the risk of the audio getting off sync, since the audio in the swf file will be compressed in mp3 anyways

rtil

i've never noticed a file format effecting sync issues. i know that it is compressed to mp3, but the compression difference between a 3mb wav and a 150kb mp3 could make or break the file size

i also don't think it would be that difficult to convince tom to increase bug's file size limit

Its already covered, as long as it ain't something ridiculous,  (like more than 20megs)  hes fine with it

I have experience with the offsyncing audio, but I'm not sure its limited to mp3. If it does happen though all you need to do is put all of the audio in its own movieclip. Of course its a pain in the butt, but it does the job.
