Well, and I can't believe I didn't think of this before, but today I started building a .fla file filled with all the effects I generally use in my flash movies.

Such as;
Scrolling bars,
Checker patterns,
Texture overlays (reduced opacity),
Gradient overlays,
thin bars,
static,
etc. etc.

Now I'm not going to ask for an entire in-depth list of every effect you all know, but there is one effect in particular that I find to be highly desirable and I would greatly appreciate if someone can tell me how to go about attaining this effect. I've tried gradients on separate layers in graphic symbols, and well. Oh it would probably help if I showed you what effect I mean... (scroll down) -v

I don't know your thoughts on the movie, probably just dicking around for fun, but I think the movie itself is actually quite nice. But aside from that, I want to know how you got that nice looking gradient that's on the sides of the movie throughout, and it seems to also appear on most of the characters and such.

it's that weird... here I'll screen-shot what I'm talking about for further... whatever. Okay it's the effect that seems to... I don't know how to explain it I just hope you can understand what I'm talking about from this compilation of screen-shots.

That whole movie just blows my mind to be honest though... There's so many crazy effects going on in it...

any effect done in TVs or movies can pretty much be done in flash. except maybe 3d.

but i like watching experimental commercials and smooth motion graphics for inspiration, they do some cool stuff thats easy to achieve in flash
I have more of a life writing this review at 1145 pm than you guys do making these movies. . .

I actually had to google that because I didn't know what you were talking about, but it seems really easy to go to Modify > Shape > Expand Fill. I'll be toying around with it in my spare time tonight. Also yay for spring break next week!

That's good to know. I wonder why my brother is so ardently hateful of Flash animators. Him and his 2D... ahh. Not that I have anything against 2D either!!

most graphic commercials are produced with 3d and after effects. a lot of commercials that you might say might look like flash, but they're usually maya. lots of 2d stuff is produced in 3d software, like south park.

but flash is very powerful as well, even in 3d.

yeah true. after effects is a good one to learn for sure.

but for instance that dailytoons season 3 intro was based on a really cool looking intro sequence i saw to some shitty show on the E network
