What is music? Is it simply a rhythm, applied to notes and a beat? You couldn't be more wrong there, Sally. Music in its purest sense, is good. Pure good. The one thing music isn't, is bad. This is why Radiohead cannot be considered real music. Please note while reading this essay that my musical opinions are correct, while yours are not, unless you completely agree with me.
Radiohead is an "alternative" britpop group from the slums of Oxfordshire. The main "members" of the "band" are Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O'Brien, Colin Greenwood and Phil Selway. Radiohead is one of the most popular "bands" in the world, selling over 23 million albums in their so-called career.
The scheming mastermind behind this operation is Thom Yorke, lead vocalist for the group. His fowl, piercing screeches brainwash children and twist their minds to like bad music. Oh wait, I forgot, Radiohead isn't real music. Silly me, always contradicting myself. The rest of the band consists of robots, constructed and named by Thom Yorke. The guitarist, whoever he is, plays sloppily and writes solos that make no sense musically. For example, the solo in "Paranoid Android" (horrible song by the way), includes a solo that desecrates the meaning of the word "music".
Radiohead is so bad, that one time I started playing a boombox with Radiohead music in the middle of the street and everyone told me to turn down that noisy racket, which no one identified as real music, thus proving that Radiohead is not real music.
To break it all down, I will choose a song at random and analyze it. For this random test, I have chosen, "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi". Just hearing the name of the song will tell you its going to be another bad krautrock, shoegaze, and electronica fusion. Listening the first three seconds will then verify this.
Although I've proven Radiohead is bad, there is still some ground to cover. For example, why do so many people like them? The answer is not so simple. Becoming overrated is not an easy task, unless you're Linkin Park.
It took years for Radiohead to become overrated. Their first single, "Creep", was not fully appreciated by the masses until their later efforts, such as "Kid A" and "OK Computer". These awful attempts at abstract creativity insulted the meaning of the word "art".
But through and through, Radiohead rose up and through the use of brainwashing and the subtle arts of murder and persuasion, became what it is today. Bad, overrated noise.

Good is an abstract concept, so you can't really define music as good.

All your supposed "proving" is little more than your opinion.

and I'm not doing this because I like Radiohead or anything, Never even heard their songs.

Out of pure spite let me say this. Paranoid Android is the best song written ever by anyone*.

That's where you're wrong. There is, and always will be, a difference between good, and enjoyable. And you can always define good, maybe not strictly through words, but through actions and the growth of an art, music or otherwise, good is developed as facts, not opinion.

There will always been smatterings of opinions, but even in science there is no one true fact. There can't be, because everything EVER is relative to perception. However defining music, or a movie, or animation, or art as "good" is as much a factual process as it is to determine whether an experiment in chemistry was a success or not.

That being said, I think Radiohead is both good and enjoyable? Why, because it does what it intends to do properly. The songs they write have a purpose, atmospheric, melodic, or otherwise and they successfully achieve this purpose.

Why do you think the job of a critic exists? it's because they know the working behind the creations we see. And it may seem elitist to us that they can dictate what is good or bad, but they know the "rules" behind what's going on and they know how concepts and theories and fundamentals are applied and can be applied. Are they truly objective? No of course not. You can't ever be purely objective, really. They do however right review based on in-depth knowledge of the artist process going into whatever they are critiquing.

Hmm... You're right, there is a firm line between enjoyable and good, but what I meant was more of a " everyone's definition of good is different" kind of thing. You're point still stands though

I was actually just being a jackass. I'm an elitist self-righteous movie critic. Sometimes I write reviews for the local newspaper, and I'm ruthless.

Wade is not gay, read his profile! It's sad that you would use sexual orientation as a joke, shows that you have no real sense of humor.
