Lets not bash this just cause its sticks, i worked hard on it for the little time i worked on it.
This was gonna be entered in a comp on stick page but i ran out of ideas and inspiration.
Only criticize the animation no the sticks, Id prefer this to not turn into another stick bash thread.

THE HELL YOU STILL DOIN HERE!!??!
<lenko> i saw a hedgehog on the way home if i was drunk i would have yelled IM DOCTOR RRRRROBOTNIK and chased it

MRat

They just jump a whole lot. Stretch contract float stretch repeat. THERE IS NOTHING GOING ON!

also, you can't not criticize the sticks, because the way you animted them only works with sticks, and it's not that great, so the sticks can be blamed. just give up on sticks.

I will when I either:
a.)learn to draw better with a mouse.
or
b.)Get a tablet

Trust me, id love to get into fullbody, but i cant draw for shit with a mouse and ive yet to get a tablet, so for now, i animate sticks.

this is your problem

as Mrat said, give up on sticks. if you keep animating with stickmen, you'll never learn anything else, just with sticks
start practicing drawing shapes or cartoons on paper, you'll get a somewhat feel of how to do it with a mouse, which will make it a whole lot easier for you
that's what i do all the time, just looks at some of my sketches for example. rtil says i'm improving, and i've never really used sticks except when i need help drawing a human character, as anatomy
sticks are just sticks, nothing fancy of fun about it
cartoons are sooo much different than sticks, and, in fact, more entertaining, to both the audience and the artist that makes it

Mishka, I draw everyday, with a pencil and paper, and i like to think that im getting better, but i have the most unsteady hand in the world with a mouse, I dont know what it is but when i draw with a mouse, I might as well be Michael J. Fox without his meds.

we were all like that. everyone. you just have to practice. alot. alot. alot. and you will develop a steadier hand. just because you don't see improvement at first or even for a while, doesn't mean it won't happen.

zomfgbie

i use a mouse, and just won daily 3rd.
i am dead

<+wwchicken> once i walked into the kitchen and there was a sound
<+wwchicken> but i could only hear it when i stood on one spot in the kitchen
<+wwchicken> then i turned off the light
<+wwchicken> and it was gone
<+wwchicken> then i turned the light back on and there it was again
<+wwchicken> so i thought, its an invisible alien
<+wwchicken> but hes scared of the dark

notorious

uhmmmm the lighting and snow is ok i guess, but i'm sure the snow is actionscripted and it goes without saying the character design sucks!

what tool would one go about using to draw with a mouse, because i cant get brush to cooperate.

Woah, drawing with a piece of paper must be pretty difficult.

trent bortknob

if you have an unsteady hand try drawing with the brush at the second line thickness at about 200% and then right click the finished drawing and click smooth

you can click smooth a number of time if you want but dont over do it

Clutch

thanks taylor, im gonna get started now.

rtil

yeah imo it was just another typical stickfight, could have used some sounds or camera movement for effect. but it's time to move on

Daagah

i really dont see how its going to be easier to draw with an tablet if youre all unsteady. i dont think that the mouse is the problem here, its more that it is unusual for you to draw on a computer. really, there isnt THAT much of a difference between mouse and tablet, the tablet just gives you more the feeling of actually drawing. with pressure sensitivity, tilt etc. I can draw just as well with a mouse, its just more time consuming. I suppose this varies from person to person though

also, it's not like getting a tablet will magically make you better at drawing

rtil

i disagree. i found that a mouse severely disabled my drawing ability. i was able to produce work 100 times better and faster when i got a tablet

although gettting a tablet doesn't make you a better artist. i hope nobody believes that. that's like saying buying a pencil will make you a better artist

Clutch

rtil, i would have added bells and whistles when it was finished, but alas i dont think i will finish it.
And i do not think that the tablet will make me better at drawing just better at drawing on the computer, i can draw fairly well with my hand, not my mouse therefore i wish to get a tablet and move into fbf fullbody.

adamant

Quote from: rtili hope nobody believes that. that's like saying buying a pencil will make you a better artist

lmao this is what i thought when i got my first tablet

it took me 2 years afterwards to actually get mediocre at drawing
