I never thought it would make me better at all, but I did expect that a couple days and I'd be drawing as well as I do on pencil and paper. It's a couple years later, and I'm still better with traditional tools than I am with my tablet. However, I do use my tablet better than my mouse, but I can draw pretty well with a mouse as well, but it's a heck of a lot more time consuming. The great things about art is that the principles never really change, and can easily be adapted to a bunch of media.
