This guy thinks it's good, I have a couple friends raving about it, I want to go see it tomorrow

I need someone here to convince me not to give hollywood my 8 dollars

i think i said this in the other thread but from the trailer it looked pretty generic and messy. reviews so far look mediocre. theres probably a few cool action scenes/ sci fi concepts in there but at this point i dont actually think i can be bothered sitting through the rest of the film to find them

"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

"...it stimulates the part of the brain called "shatners-bassoon", and that's the bit of the brain that deals with...time perception..."

Bamyasi

Great just what we needed another thread on this movie.
April Fool's!

SrsSam77

Your thread was weak so I made one that was S W O L E

SrsSam77

holy hot FUCKIN DAMN

that movie was so good that I COULD PROBABLY ROLL IT UP AND SMOKE IT

Motoko Kusanagi? more like j-toko Kushanagi

I thought it would be the usual hack and slash of the source material but the director put some much care and love in truly rebooting and revitalizing the original movie and plot, recreating scenes and improving upon them, while also communicating more of the subtler elements a lot of people would have missed in their first watch of the original.

I haven't felt magic in a movie for awhile, but I really felt it watching this movie today, I hope the film industry can keep it up.

i have never heard more polarizing opinions of a movie than with GITS. literally the exact opposite thing on every aspect from other people who have seen the origina;, but you're not the only one i know who thought it was a faithful re-whatever, either. i don't know what to believe anymore.

but i'm still not giving them money :wile:

heard that the visuals are great and the soundtrack/sound design is amazing

acting/plot/villain are very mediocre though
[12:59 AM] elm: yea honestly if you dont want to cum on elmer fudds bald head whats wrong with you
[07:49.46] <+slack> cum erupts from the dick at an alarming rate
[07:49.59] <+slack> it will blast off and slap the wall at like 40 mph

I believe that people are confusing Johanssen's purposeful autism for bad acting, there were some minor problems with character depiction (i,g. Togusa) and many of these characters didn't even really show up too often; But the pacing and the rate at which you were fed story information and clues and how you got them was top notch.

Also was the apartment scene in any of the anime adaptions? It seems so incredibly familiar but I don't recall matoko doing it in any other series.

Bamyasi

Well it can't be worse than the manga.

Or this thread.

scarjo is actually a bad actor though, she has absolutely zero screen presence and is about as charismatic as a wooden plank. but it could be that not knowing how to act like a normal human being could play to her favor in the role as Major. still she was a horribly miscast and lazy choice as she only got the role because she was the poster child of recent hollywood sci-fi (her, lucy)

Bamyasi

Her and Lucy were both fucking terrible horrible no good very bad movies.

Sam generally has good taste but keep in mind he also liked Spectre.

Also by the way Sam Hacksaw Ridge was very good thanks for the rec.

SrsSam77

I didn't like spectre

I liked the stunts

get yo shit right
I kind of want to go see gits in theater again tho...
I found spectre to be really good, it had a lot of shots and effects that reminded me of the older bond films and the action scenes and car chases were top fucking notch.

SrsSam77

You're being racist against elements that make a film right now

Bamyasi

You're being the reason the medium hasn't progressed in 40 years.

SrsSam77

You're the reason the medium still exists

You're also the reason I'm getting so many replies in this thread

That doesn't even make sense.

i wonder if The Cinematic Experience™ is on the side of ghost in the shell starring scarlett johannson. like on 2nd viewing watching it at home with your daki will have a sobering effect when it's no longer on the silver screen. i know it happened to a lot of people who initially liked suicide squad - although to GITS' credit making a movie as bad as that would take a monumental domino effect of utter failures. there's at least some soul behind this movie, even if it was doomed to be in the shadow of its predecessors from the start.
