YeeBackAlleys DnD Thread (buckle up nerds)

I'm looking into organizing some kind of D&D-esque experience for tba based on the interest some people have shown so far. It's something that I have very little experience with so if there is anyone who actually knows how things go feel free to offer your wisdoms/correct me when things are wrong.

This thread will be for sorting out and contributing to that experience. If you are interested in playing, say it here. If you know some good software or a variation on the rules say it here. I know there are certainly a few artists here and I will be looking for people to help create simple assets/ maps/ tokens if we get to that stage.

So far it seems more than likely that we will be following the tried and tested formula established by D&D, present in variations like Pathfinder, Numenera, Dark Heresy ect ect. Again this is open to debate, and if we can establish a good basic understanding of the rules we could even play around with a basic (but interesting) story based campaign of our own.

If I can get a good grasp on the rules I'm going to be looking for one or two people to run through a trial with me, very simple map, characters and set up, to iron out any problems we might encounter before attempting this properly. I want the emphasis to be on fun and having a stupid story to tell after than scrabbling around for rules and telling people what they can and cant do.

Fantasy Grounds and  Realm Works also come up a lot but its like $50-$150 for the software and supposedly they dont do anything that roll20 and maptool can't.

It would also be really handy if you're connected to the Discord chat for discussions.

Generally d&d and ad&d have more dying, 3rd/3.5 has more bullshit, 4th has more restrictions on doing anything fun. I haven't gotten into 5th yet so can't say much on that one.
