How does one acquire power? Do I just have to fuck someone more powerful than me?
Find something that offends you, tear it down brick by brick in a well-articulated manner, show those companies what for, take the power back.[1]

I would love a powerfuck but unfortunately I have no power.

How does one acquire power? Do I just have to fuck someone more powerful than me?

no, they fuck you

but if you survive, you acquire their power

This reads like satire. Good thing it comes just in time for me to not care about stuff like this anymore. I hope it starts happening with a lot of super popular games in fact. Oh yeah, spread the love.

What even makes Tracer a strong character anyway? She's in an arena shooter. The only story is backstory. Design alone making a character strong is like exactly the kind of shallow reasoning we're trying to move away from isn't it?

Like that picture rtil posted. I would definitely not survive intercourse with someone like that, but then again, how much power does someone like that really have? Certainly feminine wiles aren't in her arsenal, and feminine wiles is exactly the kind of power western feminism doesn't recognize because a) it doesn't align with their narrative of women being damsels in distress for all of history (who really has the power in the knight/dragon/princess scenario?) and b) feminine wiles aren't in the arsenal of most feminists, which means it's just as much a power struggle among women as it is between sexes.

This is why I hate the fucking internet. Artists in the past never had to listen to this rabble, because they were creating by commission for the church/aristocracy, you know, social strata that actually deserved their labor. Proletariat philistines like myself rightfully held a more passive role in consumption until now, and the arts are worse for it.

It's not even a specifically sexy pose, IMO. It's just one where the camera is behind her and she doesn't not have an ass on account of her being human.

bd648

I remember something almost exactly like this happening with planetside 2 when a bunch of people were complaining that the female poses on the character select screen were more sexual than the male poses.
FRACTALS ARE NOT ART! IT'S MATH!
┌|°з°|┘└|°ε°|┐┌|°з°|┘└|°ε°|┐ Cheers!

rtil

and let's not forget that when people are crying "but think of the children!" in games like Overwatch no one is complaining about the fact that the gameplay revolves around killing other people. there's even cartoony blood splats that come out of the characters when you shoot them.

but god forbid there be a pose where a girl is facing away from you and you can see the outline of her ass. a character that wears skin-tight pants and sports a wedgie at pretty much all times.

i feel like the people who complain about things being oversexualized forget that that's on them. they've trained themselves to seek out and be offended by things like this. children don't think like this - normal people don't think like this.

it upsets me that blizzard would bend over backwards for the whims of a single person because it sets a dangerous precedent. also, there are far more sexually charged poses and outfits in the game.

this is actually the 2nd time they've censored something in Overwatch via removal. in the new map Route 66 there was an outhouse with a smashed in door. on the ground near the pot there were some crumpled up magazines with Overwatch girls on the covers. in a recent update, the outhouse door was restored and the magazines disappeared. in some ways i find this even more absurd than the removal of the Tracer pose because it's an even more obscured implication.

Hi I'm a mom of 1 son and he got a boner and I'm not ok with this please stop being sex video games blizzard thank god ble

Bamyasi

I said I didn't care about stuff like this anymore and don't have the pain threshold to read the entire battle.net thread, but obviously I still thought about it all day during my toiling. Just as I was getting over the FE butchery too. I'm not happy about it, but if the Tracer ass nerfing sheds more light on the issue it could turn into something positive in the long run, but probably not.

It's like they literally don't know what a cartoon. I can only speak for myself, but violence actually disturbed me when I was a kid, whereas female anatomy was just part of living with two girls in early childhood. I don't get who these puritans think they're protecting. I sure wish there had been someone there to shield my eyes from some of the violent shit I saw on TV as a kid, even if it was mostly anime. At least then I might have gotten more sleep, and in turn gotten healthier brain development and probably would be less depressed and more functional and not the loser of the family who knows!

Oh but it's objectification right? Having tits and an ass is objectifying. I was thinking about this today: why is it such a problem if there's sexy in videogames, but almost no backlash against T&A in beer commercials or at sporting events? The only answer I could come up with is that the former is construed/imagined as unwanted attention from beta males, which in turn elicits a fight or flight response. Again, I can only speak for myself, but I enjoy being objectified, as long as it's someone hot objectifying me, but imagine most people feel the same way.

Oh yes but the west is so beyond Christianity and thinking of sex as sinful aren't we? We're feminists/humanists/Marxists now! I feel like the more we deny a vengeful, unknowable metaphysical surveillance system is still looking down on us and shaming us for masturbating, the stronger its influence becomes. Case in point: Christians don't have clout in the games industry anymore, but their spiritual successors certainly do.

Oh but it's her daughter she's trying to protect, remember? Projecting (probably imposing) your own sexual hangups on your kid daughter and using them to push your own agenda certainly isn't objectifying anyone is it?

I read about that too. Admittedly pretty mild compared to FE: Fates' treatment, but still fucking ridiculous.

Sorry for the rant n_n;

Let us pray.

rtil

oh the bnet thread is 40+ pages and counting as Kaplan made another reply and unlocked it, it's definitely not worth reading.

he claims that they removed it because they believe they've made a better pose to replace it with as they were unhappy with the previous one because it didn't fit her character. i guess i can understand that but saying things like
Quote
We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented.
doesn't really reflect that so it was confusing.

the funny thing is it's essentially identical to this pose

but widowmaker is a lot more sexually charged than tracer so i guess it's ok here? here's hoping it makes no one "uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented."

Also cognitive dissonance ahoy (definitely thread of bad material).

This event is weird because it has SJWs defending an alleged lolicon sympathizer, and LamerGaters harassing someone over opinions she held that ostensibly align with TorrentialDownpour's complaints (regarding the removal of content apparently sexualizing underage girls).

I'll add this to my list of reasons to hate the GamerGate. And the internet. Mostly GamerGate.

It's fucking hilarious because cultural imperialism I think is the best argument against oversteps in localization.

I seriously wish we could just send these two groups to an island and watch them implode. Or alternatively, vote them off ours.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxaPd27Kwe4

Really all these two consecutive events and the entire localization debate prove is how quick corporations are to let the terrorists win.

i can't believe these movements are still going on

that being said, some people should just stop using twitter because they don't know when to keep their thoughts to themselves.

The jig is up guys, anyone who posted in the hentai thread is going to jail for child abuse :^)

Interesting opinion on the Harms of Sexuality for someone named Johnny Swords.

There. Acceptable?
Unless they have something to promote, like art or writing or some such. Social media are already advertising conduits so I see no problem using them if you have something to actually advertise besides your dumb opinion and day to day minutiae. I wouldn't consider non-artist PR reps or angry neckbeards to have anything worthwhile to say so they should be first at the chopping block imo. Everybody wants to rule the world.
Also I'm so happy a wild Gilthwixt appeared.

this is basically how i use it and i only follow people who do this as well. i have to mute quite a few people i follow because they tweet 10,000 times a day and then i can never find any nice art because their subconscious is constantly bombarding me. since it's a microblogging site you can't say much of use in a tweet but people try to anyway and there's even stupid services like twitlonger

that being said it has been useful in times of crisis with hashtags for people looking for shelter but then the MSM reports on it and everyone start using it and it immediately becomes useless

Bamyasi

More thread of bad material.

Obviously "trap" is a politically incorrect term but I find it ironic trans people in Japanese media got that name because there was more to their character than... being trans. Of course there's a way to complain about tokenism that isn't transphobic but we can't expect the average games consumer OTI to be capable of that level of critical thinking.

rtil

the collective negative reaction to this seems to be "i'm not transphobic but [says something transphobic]"

if people are getting this assblasted over an npc you can ignore who happens to be trans i can't imagine how much more mileage they'll get out of their keyboard warrior sessions when one of them is a mc
