Don't want to hype this up too much but yeah you should see it if you haven't. It's by far Fincher's best movie since Zodiac.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and it's one of those movies that I'm glad I experienced in the theater, not that a theater setting takes away from the story. Without going into details, it's one of those movies where you think you can guess the rest, but then in turn goes into a different direction you would never think of.

I've talked to a lot of people about it and they say they weren't too interested in it because Ben Affleck is in it, but this is by far the best role I've seen him in, as well as the rest of the casting to be great.

In short, go see Gone Girl.

Have either of you read the book? I dropped it after about 2 chapters because of the writing but I'll probably pick it back up just to enjoy the plotting in print.

i thought the movie and the book were both great ,
only in the movie nick is the clear cut hero and amy is the villain. their book counterparts were more complex, i even felt empathetic to amy's ridiculous scheme at some points.
gillian flynn's cynical narration can be a little grating though. her other 2 books are good as well, and the prose is toned down compared to gone girl.

FInally finally got around to watching this, a fantastic movie. It was stressful watching Nick run around clueless in the first half, but Amy's horrifying shenanigans more than made up for that. It didn't seem all that, how should I say, surprising? shocking? new? regarding the twists and turns, but taking every single one of them was very fun.
There was this aggravating feeling I got towards the end -- like the movie should've stopped several times, but decided to keep going on. I enjoyed all those scenes regardless of that, it was a bit weird.

The soundtrack is fucking ace.
