last year was a total disaster, but it looks like there is a lot more promise this year as long as Call of Duty: the Movie doesn't hoard all the awards.

I'll be rooting for Birdman, The Theory of Everything, and Whiplash.

did you know it took 12 years to make boyhood? it took 12 years to make boyhood.

I really want Rosamund Pike to win for best actress because she did an excellent job in Gone Girl, but I think it'll either be Felicity Jones or Julianne Moore

Also looking over the nominees reminds me that I still need to watch The Grand Budapest Hotel

boyhood - 12 years a slave (to a film)

The only best picture nominee I had a chance to see was The Grand Budapest Hotel. It's definitely one of my favorite movies, but has no chance of winning because it isn't 'important.'

I really need to see Birdman and Boyhood soon.

ExBerian

Inherent Vice was good. I missed the first 10 min of it though so it was a little bit all over the place, but from what I have heard from others that have watched it, it is that way even if I saw that part.

they should change the 12 days of christmas to the 12 years of boyhood because christmas is nowhere NEAR as magical as boyhood

I really liked Boyhood. In my opinion, it is better than Grand Budapest Hotel (which was very fun) and The Theory of Everything (which was alright). Don't know if I'd pick it over Whiplash, and I haven't seen the other ones yet.

boyhood let you watch 12 years of nothing interesting fly by in the span of 3 hours i wish boyhood was my life

Just got back from watching four of the nominees in one sitting through AMC with some friends. Here's how I'd rank them:

The Imitation Game
Grand Budapest Hotel
Boyhood
Theory of Everything

I haven't watched Birdman yet, and I have no interest in seeing Whiplash or Selma. Ended up watching American Sniper as part of the AMC movie night, and it's trash, so I don't even think it should have been nominated. 'Murrica, I guess.

Geez four in a row, I admire your endurance.

Whiplash is worth watching for the montage/music alone.

Saw Song of the Sea on Valentine's Day. It was cute but hollow, just like SoK. Aside from the unlikable male lead and a somewhat contrived finale I didn't have many problems. Started out a lot stronger than it finished, and I kind of wish they had stayed vaguely magical/relaxing slice of life for the entire runtime instead of introducing all the bland mythical beings.

Kaguya is MOTY for me. I hardly remember anything from 2013 aside from The Grandmaster and Kaguya is the only thing I saw in theaters this year that shared the same level of artistry.

Haven't seen any of the four ( ! ) nominated biopics but I'm yawning just thinking about them.

Grand Budapest Hotel was the only film i never got around to watching and it ended up winning alot so i guess i gotta watch it now lol

Whiplash and Theory of Everything won in the places i wanted them to (JK Simmons for best supporting actor and Eddie Redmayne for leading actor) so that's a plus

Boyhood and American Sniper didn't win anything significant so that's also a plus

i wanted Rosamund Pike to win best leading actress, but the academy choose still alice over gone girl though they are both good movies.

some of you are probably going to disagree with me on this but i kinda wanted Hans Zimmer (Interstellar) to win best original soundtrack. maybe i'll change my mind after watching Grand Budapest Hotel.

i was not expecting Birdman to win the best picture at all.. not that i'm complaining
