when you draw people do you even do gestural poses first?

do you even do basic shapes...?

or do you just kind of wing it and hope for the best.

The only guideline I use is the ball for the head, and the cross/+ over it. I do sketch the pose first though. It depends on what I do.

I find doing shapes a waste of time. With time you won't need these guidelines, at least not for everything.
