Tried to give the face more shape. This isn't anything special, didn't spend much time on it.

the mouth kinda flyin off the face would work for me more if the chin wasn't there. it sucks.. the more you shoot for a head with a 'realistic' working jaw, the harder it is to get away with cartoony mouths. i think that since he's facing mostly towards us, you could have moved that mouth more to the right so it fit in the face, and gave it more dimension. i'd try to explain it right now but i'd probably completely confuse you trying to do that. maybe i'll draw a quick little mouth shape later to show what i was talking about

it looks a little awkward because of the sudden color change. you should use colors to your advantage to lead into that harsh black. it's not going to be an easy thing to do but it will give you a chance to really refine the design of the character. is the eye of significance?

anyway, here's the edit of the mouth. i tried to do it in your style. i hope you can see what i mean.

The lighting is fine, but his hat-bill/hair doesn't make any goddamn sense it hurts my brain to try and process it.

you use very vibrant colors, so be sure to really careful about where and when you use them. some of the shading feels like you just drew it on for the sake of it being there. it really should describe the volume of whatever it is on. draw it as carefully as if you were doing the outlines for your character. you should try using subtle gradients as well. you'd be surprised how much they can help make your character pop out

MRat: the hat thing was supposed to be some style test though.

rtil: I'm used to bright colors so it will be kind of hard to get away from, I don't even think I want to. It kind of gives what I want to get in my artstyle, I guess I need to work at it. The lightning I know isn't great, it's my main practice at the moment, volume and so on as you mentioned. I'll get there I suppose.

I've never used gradients though, we'll see how that will turn out. I've been told so many times that gradients are bad so I've never really wanted to use them.
