It was okay, kind of boring. Godzilla 2000 is still the best as far as remakes go.

i saw this movie last week with someone and it was shit
godzilla was so melodramatic falling down slowmo all the time and giving cranstons son 'the look'
it reminded me of that pokemon movie with the legendary birds

1 1/2 stars

godzilla is large. while he would fall just as fast as anything else, it takes him longer to displace his mass than something smaller. and we have to see him from a distance to get his scale, which would make this effect stronger. he would appear to fall slowly in real life as well. maybe not as slow as in the film, but it would look stupid if he fell quickly.

yeah but then he decided to ignore physics and slap that insect thing REALLY FAST with his tail in that one shot. guess he was just moving slowmo on purpose that whole time

and dont tell me you didnt notice those 3 or 4 times where godzilla fell down and gave soldier son ONE LAST LOOK before he 'died' as if he failed him or something

melodramatic crap movie went to shit after cranston died and ken watanabe couldnt save it with the same intense stare throughout the rest of the movie 0.83 stars

creamcorn

that being said i do recommend it if you like to laugh at bad movies B)

godzilla's tail has less mass displacement than his entire body. his tail was also extremely close to the camera. physics isn't playing as much of a role in this as gravity and simple visual perception rules are. that being said, it is a movie, and vfx animators have to kind of use their imagination since godzilla doesn't exist.

i do recall one scene where godzilla saw cranston jr after he had already fallen and then a bunch of dust and debris obscured his head and i didn't find it particularly melodramatic. i'm actually curious why you thought it was melodramatic because nothing melodramatic happened. the scene was shot, in my opinion, to show that godzilla doesn't give a fuck about the fact that there are humans all around him. there wasn't any swelling of music, there wasn't even much sound in that scene. it would have been melodramatic if godzilla had shed a tear and a sad orchestra came in or something to that effect. but nothing like that happened.

creamcorn

alright before i get myself trapped into a rtil debate to the death and ten more physics lessons im just gonna nitpick these things and then leave 5ever

sort of. gravity plays a role in modern newtonian physics. but we're only talking about gravity, here. it's like having a discussion about silicon and saying we're talking about computers.

and motion parallax has nothing to do with physics. it's a byproduct of depth perception in stereoscopic vision.
