Surprised not to see a thread about this movie yet. Did anyone else see it? What did you think?

It's kind of weird that Kim Jee-woon, Park Chan-wook and Joon-ho Bong all made English language debuts in the same year. I'll just go ahead and say this was the strongest of the three by a fair margin. I saw it opening night here and have been back twice with different people who all liked it. Be sure to go if you heart Korean cinema/Joon-ho Bong. That guy cannot make a bad movie.

Here's the part where I'd post a trailer but I'm against them on principle. Go without reading/watching anything about it. Trust me.

Oh, and it was shot on film, which is always nice to see. I'm glad those guys haven't transitioned to digital yet. Their movies are far too pretty.

never seen a film by the director. never heard of the movie.

it is playing around my area, don't think i'll get a chance to go see it, though. gonna be out of town for a week and will have alot of work to catch up on. i'll probably have to catch it on bluray or something

Don't forget to not watch the trailer!

And a lot of people probably haven't heard of it because Harvey Winestain outJew'd himself when he Jew'd his Jew-juice all over this absolute Jewel of a movie.

telling me to not watch the trailer makes me want to watch the trailer

Quote"In 2014, an experiment to counteract global warming causes an ice age that kills nearly all life on Earth. The only survivors are the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a massive train, powered by a perpetual-motion engine, that travels on a globe-spanning track. A class system is installed, with the rich passengers who bought tickets inhabiting the front of the train and those who managed to get aboard during boarding inhabiting the tail."

it was good

surprisingly brutal in parts with a few unexpected twists and people dying that you wouldnt expect

massive spoiler gripe alert
sort of fell apart towards the end, literally considering the train just kind of explodes and everyone dies, the back train cars get fucking wrekked then thrown off a mountain then crushed so i dont think anyone makes it out.

its like we get a bunch of interesting twists and turns just to have it all completely destroyed and rendered meaningless

are the lone girl and small black kid supposed to repopulate the earth??? not too sure what the ending was supposed to mean. everyone was fighting pettily for survival on the train while life went on outside when no one thought it could??????
"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

So yeah basically the whole thing is a metaphor for capitalism and globalization.
