I'm still bummed that the new soul eater has such a generic art style, especially compared to the original show

well the plot is totally different from soul eater and it's close to the manga spinoffs' style so i think it would have been misleading to give it the same look as the original series

but actually i really liked soul eater and i think all spinoff anime things are pretty blehblehbleh. i had no idea that mushishi season 2 was a thing so i'll probably watch all of mushishi now considering i'm pretty sure i'd like it.

will probably watch about 2 or 3 eps of gj-bu for the sake of seeing megumi again

not half as excited for soul eater not as i'd like to be, since the manga was cute but an anime adaptation wasn't needed

sidonia no kishi's animation is all in 3d.. including the characters. i was not expecting that. the animation on them is really bad. i might drop it just for that.

captain earth's 1st ep had way too much shit going on at once, and the pacing is ridiculously fast. the mc somehow finds himself inside of a mecha and seems to know what he's doing without ever having been trained to pilot one ever. it's kinda dumb but i'm not dropping it just yet.

still have yet to see nanana or soul eater not. but i'm disappointed in sidonia and CE so far.

mushishi is good but that's a given

Get gar, fuckers! Third/Second season of Jojo! If you haven't seen the first one yet, give it a shot. It's wonderfully retarded over-the-top action for manly men, providing a simple but nicely executed story and it's one of those shows of which you can watch 5 episodes in a row without getting bored. Nothing deep or clever, just some good old silly fun for those days when you just need something simple to entertain you.

That and Mushishi are pretty much the good ones this season.

Most of the other stuff this season seems either uninteresting/dumb or isn't airing yet (Monogatari).
There are a couple of shows that might be interesting, but I honestly don't know what to think yet...

Isshuukan Friends. has a pretty cute style and seems to be a bit more serious and mature than most other shows this season - all despite being labeled a shounen anime. It is presented as a slice of life comedy, although the theme of a boy meeting a girl who losing her memories on a regular base strongly reminds of romantic dramas like Ef - A Tale of Memories. I'm not sure how this is going to turn out, but it might be interesting.

The premise of No Game No Life does seem like just another bad SAO rip-off (and I didn't even like SAO that much), but the reception so far seems to be pretty positive. It's hard to judge the whole thing by the first episode (ye, I actually had the decency to watch the first episode before labeling it something as shit tier). The characters don't really seem realistic or interesting yet (as they seem to be pulling off the same god mode bullshit as in the major part of SAO), but it seems to be based on a pretty well received novel and the animation style really isn't too shabby, so it might actually turn out all right.

Haven't looked into anything else yet.

Not really. The majority of the main cast is completely new and the important points about the past events that have a relevance for this new story are all explained quite well.
On the other hand, it is a story about the descendants of the first hero and starting off with this season might spoil certain aspects of how his story ends. Also, watching the first season will give you some additional background information on a couple of important characters and will provide a nice little twist to the ending of the very first arc in the very first episode of this season. But that's about it. I'm pretty sure you could watch this new season first and you would still be able to enjoy the prequels just as much as someone who starts in the right order.
