i watched a lot of cartoons when i was a kid but i've never seen that . it must've not run for very long

I'm watching Narutaru now and I cannot figure out why I waited so long to do so. I think it's because I wanted to read the manga synchronously and I heard Dark Horse censored parts of it. Plus it was flipped right to left for the English release and that just totally throws me off.

I think it's one of the most brilliantly executed openings ever when viewed from the perspecive of someone who actually knows the show and its characters as well as the corny clichés that it makes fun of.
First time you lose your shit is when you see the red sports car, become aware of the corny setting and hear that silly 80's vibe in the melody. Second time when Kaiki actually starts to sing. And despite being a blatant parody on several terrible retro steroetypes out there, it still carries a significant and very accurate hidden message about the characters. Whoever comes up with this stuff is a genius.
To be honest, I really disliked the series when I first started to watch Bakemonogatari, but at some point (around the first rewatch or so) I really began to enjoy it for some reason. It simply does have something special about it.

As I have read recently, he was also the one who convinced Urobuchi to go for the ending of the third Madomagi movie. Otherwise it would have ended with Homura joining Madoka instead of fucking shit up big time and becoming the anti hero. I personally liked that choice much more than a simple conclusion with no further conflicts but I know that there are some people here who think differently.

Personally I liked the direction they took in the third movie. Everyone getting so bottombothered about the ending just added to the experience for me.

the ending was changed so they could make more sequels,  not because it was the most edgiest. but it was pretty fucking edgy.

lol Urobuchi was basically forced to go for that cliffhanger ending instead of concluding the story. In fact, he didn't even want to continue the story at all after the TV anime. I'm not denying that there's some serious cash cow milking going on right there, but I wont complain as long as they don't turn one of my favorite animes ever into a shitfest with some half hearted conclusion.
The way the story is developing right now does seem to go into an interesting direction. We basically have two best friends turned into (potential) enemies in this concept, which was actually an idea suggested by Shinbo that was reluctantly accepted by Urobuchi. Ironically, he later "admitted that this was a breakthrough for him". I have a rough idea what kind of conclusion they might go for, but I guess for now we'll just have to wait...

from interviews i've read it seems like he has just convinced himself that he made the right choice after being pressured into changing it. i think the movie as a whole had a lot more problems than just the ending, though. it was kind of a mess of a film. visually it was stunning, but it had some huge pacing issues and they went a little overboard with the action - and to make matters worse they were doing boatloads of exposition when shit was happening all over the screen.

in any case, since they didn't end the series very properly they have one more chance for Homura to 'redeem' herself. unless they are ok with turning an interesting and unique character into a stereotypical yandere.
