Has anyone torrented or bought the game? It's freaking amazing. Really funny, great gameplay, it's basically made for me, humor wise. You can pick "Nolan North" as your character's voice and all, it's just a blast.

If you haven't played it yet, go pick it up.

never played any of the saints row games, judging from the commercials definitely not interested

I've never seen you play 3rd person games, so I dunno if you'd enjoy it. The comedy is well written though, which I guess you could appreciate.

Other than that, you basically blow up a nuke that is headed towards America in the first few minutes of the game, then you become the president, an alien invasion happens and you are put into something like "The Matrix" and you gain super powers. It sounds really crazy, and it is, but it's very well done.

edit: It's basically like playing a 3D GTA game but with way more focus on the fun than on the realism of things.

As much as I tend to despise stupid games / games with dumb or bad story lines, I ended up buying saints 3 on a whim, and definitely enjoyed it. I'll probably get sr4 eventually. While I'm not here to debate, it's definitely something worth giving a second look for those who were turned off by its wackiness (the 3rd one at least).

4th one tops the wackiness of the 3rd one but it's still definitely worth having a look at. Volitian seems to know their stuff when it comes to walking on the line of wacky-bad and wacky-good.

the only 3rd person games i can think of that i've played and enjoyed is jet set radio. either way i'm not paying $50 for a game franchise i've never played before

There's a working version of that, it even works in LAN mode.

like i said, not interested

funzop

is there any challenge to these games? i saw a gameplay trailer and it looks as if the player is given so much "LOL XD TOPICAL DUBSTEP GUNS FIRE TEH BASS" shit that it would be impossible to lose. you seem to just soak up bullets and destroy everything.

soup

if someone just gave me a copy sure id play it, but theyve never really made it onto my list of games to buy

the gta vs saints row argument comes to mind, but i know theyve been trying to move away from that recently

"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

"...it stimulates the part of the brain called "shatners-bassoon", and that's the bit of the brain that deals with...time perception..."

While once again I can only speak for SR3, the commercials made it seem a lot more stupid than it actually was. The writing was (usually) clever, and things like that dildo bat that showed up in all the promos really never had any purpose ingame and was just sort of there. I guess to rephrase what I said earlier, don't let the advertising campaign determine your interest, they're obviously aimed at a much more.. immature demographic than the actual game [has to be] for.

That being said, it's pretty damn easy, but in a fun way.

After playing some more, I can confirm that the game is not a walk in the park. In your main simulation, it's rather easy if you're not an idiot, but in other simulations you don't have your powers and you can die quite easily. So there is a challenge there, if you follow the main story line.

edit: Just finished the game and I have to say, it was the most fun I've ever had with a game. That being said, you need to know about Saints Row 1, 2 and 3 to understand why the story of SR4 is so great. It's an amazing tale of sorts, it's silly and all, sure, but it closes the series in such an amazing way. Never felt so good finishing a game.
