If you don't like Kanye's music, thats fine but I wouldn't even dare place him in that section of rappers where they record a verse for 50k and then leave the studio. Because unlike them, Kanye West knows how to write & produce an entire song.

i dare

So I guess this kind of songwriting & production...

fun album facts

01. On Sight (Produced by Daft Punk) [Malik Yusef, Rhymefest]
02. Black Skinhead (Produced by Daft Punk) [CyHi The Prynce, Lupe Fiasco, Malik Yusef]
03. I Am A God (Featuring God) (Produced by Daft Punk) [Hudson Mohawke, Justin Vernon, Malik Yusef, Rhymefest]
04. New Slaves (Featuring Frank Ocean) (Malik Yusef, Rhymefest)
05. Hold My Liquor (Feat. Chief Keef & Justin Vernon) [Alejandro Ghersi, Malik Yusef, Rhymefest]
06. IΓÇÖm In It (Feat. Travis Scott) [Justin Vernon, Malik Yusef]
07. Blood On The Leaves [Hudson Mohawke, Tony Williams]
08. Guilt Trip (Feat. Kid Cudi) (Produced by S1)
09. Send It Up (Feat. King L) [Alejandro Ghersi, Daft Punk, Gesaffelstein]
10. Bound 2 (Feat. Charlie Wilson) [John Legend]

so i was wrong about guilt trip then, could have sworn it was hudson mohawke's production. im surprised daft punk is as involved in this as they are, the first track it was pretty obvious, the second one not so much but the production quality on the second track is so crisp and solid it doesn't surprise me that they produced it.

maybe if kanye had some sort of alter-ego that was an animated character i wouldn't have this problem.
wait hold up i meant to respond to this but uh i don't know if you are joking here because he does (or i guess used to idk)

imo we should discuss some hip hop anime and all find common ground :)

pizza point if this is a good idea +1

rtil

i was half-joking , but when i look at daft punk i think of them as robots and not the people that are actually in them, and with gorillaz (rip) i liked to pretend that the animated characters were the ones who made the music in some kind of alternate world. that is kind of the point, anyway.

why's he famous

who gave him money

aw jeez man
i don't know how you can say you listen to a reasonable amount of hiphop and the roots and shit and have this opinion about all of these peo-
...
well, scratch that. eminem has fallen off and started making pop hits and jay has been pretty boring for a while now. but really!!! don't hate them because they're popular and on mtv and stuff. eminem and jay both have some real gems in their catalog. i mean, shit, as long as you're a fan, why don't you check out the live album that the roots did backing up jay-z in 2001

and man i have no clue how you can say kanye's flow or lyrics are bad. he isn't like the most technically proficient rapper EVER but come on dude

yeah i read an interview with ?uestlove once in which he praised jay-z's ability to memorize lyrics in those concerts they did together. i never got around to listening to it tho, thanks for the link - i'll give it a try, it will probably sound tight.

also, i'm not saying i hate jay-z and eminem, i know they did some good shit, eminem's early albums have some real good tracks and i even dig a few of the songs on the jay-z/kanye collab (not kanye's parts though). and i don't dislike them because they're popular, it's fine that they're on mtv, but they're treated like gods and that itself has changed their music - they tune their music to the taste of the audience at large and it makes them suck dick. they haven't really tried anything new with their music for quite some time and that pisses me off in any artist. to sum it up, i don't hate them or anything, i just don't think they're all that anymore, and it's been so long since they were...

(besides, musically speaking, i think eminem has always been pretty boring, except for a few "early" songs and his more playful stuff. every time he sings a chorus i want to punch him so much)

as for kanye, that track you linked has some good verses (musically, not lyrically, imo), but i still have a very bad impression of him... i remember watching him on the chappelle show and he just blew. and the little time i spent listening to "my dark beautiful twisted fantasy" (which people said was his best??) sounded really bad; lyrics, samples, everything. blame game was awful.
plus the few tracks richchap linked from yeezus didn't ring well with me. i know i'm sounding like an asshole but damn, blood on the leaves sounded especially awful
i remember his track called "power" which had a nice beat, an useless gimmick sample, and very boring verses as well

i'm open to any suggestions tho, i wanna listen to the most of his music as i can while trying to keep an open mind... he's a big name of rap and i feel like i need to know why, and i really don't have that figured out yet: WHY is he so fucking popular?

edit: holy shit lost in the world is fucking horrible aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarghjdkshgladshjlkdsasdgadsg

i can't imagine kain weest likes cartoons

at least he writes mooost of his own stuff

"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

"...it stimulates the part of the brain called "shatners-bassoon", and that's the bit of the brain that deals with...time perception..."
