"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

Tardigrade

You do have a rather nice profession for colour theory in your digital stuff. I rather like what I'm seeing so far, Mr Soup.

says the biggest of fags^

you're not one to complain, part of the reason why i got permabanned from the NG art portal was because i vouched for your shitty ass drawings because i thought they were cute

of course that says more about newgrounds than anything else but still

also this last piece is far more acceptable than the last and makes a GOOD CASE as to why you should make COOL DRAWINGS instead of HOMO ANIME

though i will warn you to not overdo the surrealism too much

trying to animate again, cant grasp keyframing yet so i have to make it up as i go along

rtil

looks like you've got the right ideas on animation. one thing to note is that with an object that large and (i assume) heavy, the character's weight  may have to shift some more, and the easing on the lift over the head might be slower, as well as the secondary animation , recovering from lifting an object that large over your head, you'd need to use a lot of strength to make sure all that momentum doesn't have it hit the ground and knock you over with it. the character should also have some weight on the leg where the weight is being distributed to counteract the weight of the chainsaw. these are subtle things that would improve what is already a good animation but make it a great animation.

soup

ahhhhh yeh i get what you mean. in the end i think i was going for something like a surprise comedy reveal, the little guy pulls the massive chainsaw from outta no where

after what you've said tho, i think i'll go try make something with a bit more weight and motion in the right places haha

Again, these are rather splendid. I love your monster designs and I seriously envy your cross-hatching capabilities. Only thing I would say about the second one is that perhaps you could perhaps emphasize the different textures of the surfaces (such as the scales and the crystals). Though, that said, it functions well as it is. Anyway, keep up the good work, Soup.

soup

thank you kindly sir, and you're right it does appear to get very samey in places.

i've figured a little out about how to add tone with cross hatching, but i do need to work on creating believable texture

Yeah I agree w/  tardigrade, those monsters are fuckin rad
And I have to agree with you that ryuuji is a cool guy. Very cute toradora sketches

rtil

rarely do i see crosshatching pulled off properly. you seem to have a good understanding of volume.

ive just realised it might be a lot easier to put characters into settings instead of trying to draw the setting around the character

but settings/backgrounds are something i really need to practice :s
