the only thing i've been unable to run is "ace of spades" and frankly i didn't even want to play it to begin with

like for real i got a ton of dll errors right off the bat but with a little tinkering with dx9 installers and win7+admin mode i got just about everything problematic to run just fine

why bother getting win8 if you're only going to install dx9

if all the games you have only require dx9, you don't need a "next gen" os

most games run on dx9 and even some of the ones that do utilize dx11 won't run at all without several of the control and input dll files from dx9

for some reason those dll files aren't included stock with the dx11 install so dx9 is needed seperately

don't ask me, i'm not into software development, i have no idea why microsoft did all this convoluted shit

you're right to some degree, there's no urgent need for a next gen os, but this is partly the fault of various software developers who stick to older tech to reach a broader audience

but frankly win8 so far is just win7 with a fancier start menu, it has no real drawbacks and a lot of future potential

plus, i actually own a legit copy of windows now LOL

not much to say really, DO NOT DOWNLOAD SEPERATE DLL FILES! find the appropriate installers for win7, run them in admin+compatability mode, problem solved... usually

unless you have specific problems i can't really bring you any greater knowledge, most of it can be solved with a google search and a little common sense tbh

the only thing i still can't get running is ace of spades but i'm not in a hurry to play it anyway
