I'd spend $700 on a cheap gaming rig then maybe $200 at most for the peripherals add an extra $50 or so for the wood and I'd build my own, its not hard at all. My father helped my uncle make the case for one with an old computer of mine. He turned it into a classic arcade machine with thousands of vintage games like tetris, space invaders and donkey kong, pretty sure my uncle still has it for his kids.

area 51 for my rail shooter
tekken III is the only fighter i can hold my own in, so that
a classic star wars sit down would be excellent
and...galaga?  i dunno this is pretty tough.

Hardly, a lot of them have console ports, for a few thousand dollars it would be easy to get something done for under $1000 and a little effort.

what i mean is the hardware peripherals. for a game like ddr you need a very sturdy metal stand and dance pad if you're going to make an arcade box. you'd be spending more than $1000 easily.
