W.A.C.

I didn't pay much attention to the general election this year since I didn't feel like it. Granted, I did necessary research for things like propositions and whatnot, but spending so much time delved into this political bullshit seemed like a waste of my time. I didn't even bother to watch the presidential debates. Granted, that was mostly because the timing was terrible since I was asleep during 2/3 of them and I was fixing my computer during the last debate, but it definitely shows how little I invested into this election compared to four years ago. (Why is my old Politics Discussion Thread inaccessible? o_O) While I voted for Nader four years ago, I chose to vote for Obama this year since I had no reason to vote for a third party candidate this year. I'm not a fan of Obama, but at least he's a decent president during who became president during a very tough time in our economy. Our country's politics are just so fucked up at this point I have little hope in country's political future, but hey maybe Obama will appoint a new Supreme Court justice during his tenure that'll tip the Supreme Court toward overturning that fucking horrid Citizens United case. At least this election has been good for progressive causes like gay marriage and marijuana rights.

Romney's Complete Concession Speech: Romney's Loses the 2012 Election

One thing I feel is very worth mentioning is the concession speech Romney made. As much as I hate Romney, that was the first speech I ever watched him give where he was actually likable. I think the fact his cockiness led him to write the speech at the last minute helped make the speech more legitimate and less full of shit. He actually seemed human for once instead of some corporate political machine. It showed me another side to him which made me wonder what the fuck does politics do to a lot of these people? It seems to destroy the personality of a lot of these people and make them much more heartless. A great example is Rick Santorum.

Santorum Big Drinker At Penn State, Liked To Party

Rick Santorum was actually a pretty chill guy in his college years. Then he became a politician and that was all over. Our political system is so damn broken. A lot of these people probably get so obsessed with power or doing whatever they can to stay elected or to please their corporate interest that it fucking wrecked this system. We need massive election reform in this country. Money plays too much of a role in our politics and the Electoral College is a dated system that hasn't aged well at all. Even Al Gore admitted on election night that he thinks this country needs to get rid of the Electoral College. Surprisingly, he still supported it even after losing the Electoral Vote in 2000 but he changed his mind in recent years because of what a divided nation we have become. He thinks it's terrible only a small number of states get attention during election time and hopes National Popular Vote becomes successful someday. If your state hasn't signed onto that, try to take action because that would be a miracle for our political system.

romney's concession speech was somber and human because he's spent the last 8 years of his life thinking he's going to get something he believes he's entitled to as a silver spoon greedy manchild, and now he knows for the first time in his life what it's like to not get what you want.

W.A.C.

Yeah, pretty much. I wonder if he regrets running.

rtil

i'm sure he'll find a way to profit from it

Romney signs are still littered around town. I guess that was all it was, an attempt to sell a bunch of shitty bumper stickers, signs, and what not. Those rednecks with 50 fucking bumper stickers on the back of their truck or minivan, makes you wonder how much they spent on that crap.

in all seriousness though he wanted very badly to president. he wanted to succeed where his father had failed and outdo him. but he is just so bad at trying to be a human being that he shot himself in the foot too many times and it truly devastated him. the press that was around him documented the romney/ryan families reactions to losing and in their little world where they were so convinced they were going to win, and it truly destroyed their realities. that's why it took about an hour for romney to concede after they were told they lost ohio - he was spending all that time trying to contemplate in his head whether he should challenge the results or not. but he knew it was over.

when it's all said and done obama is not the perfect president by a long shot  no one ever is or will be. but i'd rather have a 2nd obama term than 4 years of romney. i just hope that now that obama doesn't have a re-election to worry about he won't let the GOP fuck around with his ideals. so far so good with the threat to everyone's favorite orange republican speaker boehner.

Quote from: rtil on November  7, 2012 11:26 PMthere is now a legal blood limit for marijuana for driving under the influence (not sure what it is)

I sincerely hope that it's really low. I was stopped once with 2 grams of hash on my way from Germany to Denmark, at the border. Seeing as I could get to prison with that kind of stuff, I swallowed it. I thought it was a good idea at the time, but 20 minutes later (when it would still take me 10mins to get home) driving was REALLY difficult. I kept losing interest in the road and traffic lmfao.

So yeah I think driving under the influence - no matter how low - should be illegal.

rtil

well there is a low legal blood alcohol level limit but that doesn't stop a lot of morons from driving drunk and killing people

of course, but it's be a lot higher if the legal blood alcohol level was higher. Not everyone sticks to it, but it still decreases accidents due to high alcohol levels.
