"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

"...it stimulates the part of the brain called "shatners-bassoon", and that's the bit of the brain that deals with...time perception..."

So turns out I wasn't actually depressed and the DXM trip I took last week just fucked with my sleep cycle oops.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

slack

did you take the dxm with a shot of alcohol?

Bamyasi

No, should I have?

I can usually get cool squiggly hallucinations at a very low dose (like 15-30mg).

This round just made me feel jittery and awful, but that's what I get for being an idiot.

No more drugs I think. I'm kicking alcohol too (sorry slack).

slack

well dxm causes permanent damage to the brain, but a small dose of ethanol will bind to the dangerous parts of the drug and make them harmless

a single shot of alcohol will give you enough ethanol to safely take DXM

Bamyasi

Really? I didn't read anything about that in the DXM FAQ (© 1997).

I also didn't take enough to suffer brain damage so your plans to scare me have failed.

X gon give it to ya

Fuck waiting to get it on your own

FedEx gon deliver to ya

Meditation
Exercise
Eating healthy (LOL XD! no way!)
Sleeping medicines (nyquil is an easy one)

What I usually do is, whenever I'm stuck in a bad sleeping cycle, I force myself to wake up early at 9am for a few days in a row. That usually resets things.

Going to sleep early is hard, but waking up early is easy if you force yourself.

For depression: I heard 5-htp is good for this. I've had some in the past but not sure if it really helped tbh.

Thank you great basket-sama.

My doctor started me on SSRIs last month and this latest one I'm trying keeps me from sleeping for longer than 3 hours straight, so I spend my nights laying in bed thinking about what a failure I am :^)

I've now seen multiple recommendations for Melatonin and Valerian supplements so I guess I'll look into that.

Have fun never orgasming or feeling anything ever again.

In all seriousness I hope you feel better soon. Depression's a bitch.

Also yes I've never tried Valerian but Melatonin is 👌

False awakenings combined with SP trip me the fuck out. I usually get like a bunch of them one after another. Today I got out of bed at 8:30 because I was too afraid of falling into another spell.

I remember having that once, hope it never happens again. Hell I hope I never get any sleep paralysis ever again but we all know that's not going to happen.

Also I'm glad to have someone else to relate to on this subject.
