i've read a fair bit of judge dredd

didn't really seem to be in the spirit of the comic

they've got a lot of good source material to work with, the result seems

really fucking bland and boring

I think it still gets the comic,  just because they decided to make it a little grittier and darker doesn't mean it's bland.

agreeing w/ put it's impossible to make an entertaining movie about a heavily armed policeman with elevated privileges without portraying some bloodshed

and anyway it's just entertainment

it's not so much that it's gritty or dark, it's that the plot and environment has no color

drug-dealing in some ghetto with heavily armed thugs etc etc

it's been done to death as part of the whole DRUGS R BAD NUKE CARTELS initiative

and it's not like i would even be opposed to that in the first place

but judge dredd has such a varied repertoire of villains, crooks and schemes to pick from

it just looks like any other action film with dredd plastered on it

it doesn't represent the comic well and it's not very unique by itself compared to other films

just the same old special effects and angry people everywhere

when i saw the trailer i was like oh god there is no way this is going to be good

but critics and viewers mostly agree that it is a good film and now i'm curious
