Kind of the same thing when it comes to certain types of furry stuff. I admit I like some of that too. In fact I have more gay furry stuff saved in my secret folder than hentai.

Well that's mostly because traditional yaoi tends to suck, but idk. I used to be the kind of person to mock that stuff too, but it turns out that was all just insecurities and the only thing I'm ashamed of was originally being ashamed of it all in the first place. The art is cute and often plays into our interests, fantasies, and so forth. Even if you're not here to release thy holy fluids, you can still appreciate the artistic side or even after you finish exploding your pants! Hell, one of the biggest pastimes of mine when bored at the PC with nothing to do, I just look at porn with no real sexual desire. It's still interesting! It makes drawn visuals of such acts appealing. It's a natural part of human nature and I don't see why it would be so taboo to refrain from capturing it in a drawn form and with suspension of disbelieve also helps when it depicts something that normally wouldn't occur in any real porn flick, like monster girls that everyone loves so much! Goo girls may never be a reality, so that's sort of the reason why we draw it in the first place.

the reason why there's a hentai thread and not a porn thread would mainly be a lack of variance/style/imagination that comes with porn (see: story, popular characters, goo-girls, zombies, etc.) it takes work from the artist for hentai to look good just as it is to make any other picture look good, and thus there's an element of artistic appreciation that comes with the hentai thread. (still pushing for 'the ishikei thread')

also add in the fact that people actually have a sense of humor about hentai

I have this general mentality as well. I have no problem with the content whatsoever (well usually), and if people want to share it thats fine. I just found it... odd how much the thread took off. I too kind of thought it was a joke at first, but after it became the most popular thread in a while, I began getting suspicious.

whichever medium you choose, you're still going to be reading/watching it- the story is one of the finer staples of hentai, it builds a stronger connection to the characters. this, to some people, actually makes the payoff more rewarding

in it's anime depictions, it may be less likely. doujinshi/h-games are a whole new set of eggs though

again, i dont buy it that that was your main intention. if you were really into sharing art there are tons of more artistic illustrations that you could be sharing.

i think the plot does play a big role in why hentais are so appealing. not because its so amazing or inspiring but because you dont get a hentai-kind of plot anywhere else. porn is all about novelty

no, you're not listening. i'm comparing sexualization in a specific genre of hentai (vanilla) to other content in which sexualization is an aesthetic placed into said content to add to it. and in the visual novel i was referring to, katawa shoujo, there IS actual hentai (albeit classy hentai) so yeah i'd say it's a fair comparison

1 i dont think theres anything wrong with liking hentai. its like any other kind of porn.
2 its the sharing that might be the biggest thing why people find the hentai thread weird. you dont see people sharing porn with eachother that easily, right? theres a stigma against that. so dont be surprised when people raise an eyebrow at a hentai thread

i feel attacked by your assumptions, i don't want to see a porn thread for the reasons i stated why there isn't one in the first place. i shared what i thought was decent, and what i thought others might enjoy- sure, it's pornographic in nature, but the art and stylization is the key aspect that separates it from your standard porn. the skill and depictions of the artists that are shared is what makes the thread, in my eyes

Also i agree with chicken. Saying that you're posting hentai because of its art seems like an excuse. Its not that I feel uncomfortable that there's a hentai thread but I do find it really weird that you guys are actually sharing any form of porn on this forum in general. Just keep it to yourself and share it another way that wont let everyone else see.
