Has any one else seen it? I personally really enjoyed it, brings up a looooooot of fun questions for the 'Alien' universe.

saw it today. i didnt see the previous alien movies but i still had a great time

You only need to see the first Alien film, really, for it to make the right connection with Prometheus.

I loved this film. I watched it twice already just to ogle at all the incredible HR Giger sets, aliens, ships, and designs! My god it was like seeing his painting taken and made into these huge physical sets the actors walked around on :U Also the story was pretty great, I love how Ridley Scott makes all these little implication or wordings that could mean more than one thing to the intentions of the various characters (he did that a lot in Blade Runner and he does that in this too). I think my fav character was David the android and the cute phallic space cobra thing that ripped into that man's face. Btw this is a sci-fi horror film done the right way, not like those horrible alien films that rely of shock value over story/substance. This movie leaves some things to the imagination of the viewer and you need to piece elements together to see why or how some things came about and this film does that seamlessly without leaving you unsatisfied.
One example is when David talks to the Engineer...what did he say? Whos command did he translate, the girls or the old man? Or maybe David had his own agenda there...he DID mention "haven't you always wanted to kill your parents?" Because David wanted his freedom and besides the old guy dying I think he was saying His parents meaning humanity in general (especially since they all treated him as lower and a slave). I think he wanted that Engineer to attack them and take the ship out to exterminate...but we might not ever know since we don't know WHAT he said in that alien language. In the end part when hes all friendly and helpful I still didn't trust David at all haha!
Anyways great film!

Sef

Yeah, I read that. Brings up a lot of interesting points.

ZekeySpaceyLizard

It was pretty OK.

Most of the dialogue from characters who werent main characters was pretty wince-worthy.

There was also some logical fallacies that made no sense:
- british guy scared of choking to death in the air but smokes pot through his filter
- he's the one who makes a map of the inside of the temple and leads them around yet gets lost when he leaves somehow
- he turned into a zombie after being infected by the xeno goo even though nobody else had that happen at all
- also he basically turned into the Hulk
- im pretty sure having your womb violently yanked out then your stomach stapled shut that quickly and violently would kill you
- the space jockeys knew about the final perfect form of the xeno yet managed to get killed by them despite having control over their birth process
- british guy and nerd guy being scared to death of everything. then proceeding to sleep in the room full of giant eggs and slithering worm monsters.
- guy ritchie playing an old man and looking nothing like an old man
- space jockey not talking at all and HULK SMASH'ing his way through everyone and everything despite clearly being a far more advanced species

All that said, seeing the life cycles of the Xeno was fascinating and the whole movie just oozed style. When the big cockpit came out of the tube and the space jockey started to sit in it I felt a tear in my eye just from how pretty that shit was and how it gave me some closure on some shit from Alien. Despite the fact that whole bit at the end was clearly meant to be horror.
I wish Vickers wasn't killed in the end. It would have made for good character conflict in the sequel. And don't you worry, there will definitely be a sequel.
that's pretty cool but still there were a lot of dumb things that happened like zsl said that brought it down. otherwise it was a very enjoyable movie

Some more stupid shit:
-How the fuck does 6 spots make a precise map of a solar system among millions of stars?
-Why the fuck were noomi and charlize theron running in a straight line away from the ship when it was falling on them? just stand aside you retarded bitches
-If the engineers wanted to kill all life on earth why didn't they just make a virus that would kill everything? why make that convoluted monster goo virus? When they come back to earth they won't find a dead planet, they'll find a fucking orgy of horrible phallus shaped monstrosities that consume everything and they can't even contain.

-also why do the engineers look like handsome squidward.

Vickers was such a babe too, what a shame. Could have been good character conflict if...
