IIRC the 75c to a mans $1 isn't comparing women to men in the same position but instead men and women across all fields and positions. The gap is so wide because 1. there are more men in executive positions than women, 2. the male executive outliers (think Ralph Lauren, Bob Iger) make much more than the average female CEO, and 3. there are many jobs with high hazard pay that are traditionally "men's work" like under water welding, avg. $55k a year with the top 10 percent earning over $90k.
