Most partial to GTA San Andreas and GTA IV, they're just fun as fuck. Also you can explore for weeks and still keep finding tons of new interesting shit. Coincidentally enough, Gregly and I were wondering where the next one would be set just a few days ago, hoping they'd announce a new one soon. And what do ya know they did. I was thinking, if they choose a new location, something like the Seattle-Vancouver region and have it be about running drugs across the border or something like that. Or we were thinking in our wildest sandbox game wet dreams, an entire fictionalized version of the US cuz fuck it. (Scaled down a shit ton duh) Just from looking at the fucking logo, a lot of people are assuming it'll be in DC which would kind of suck cuz DC has no tall buildings or a big amount of interesting places. Unless they did it where it would the whole Mid-Atlantic region, which would be a lot more interesting. But what's the point in speculating, we're gonna know in like a fucking week.

seattle to vancouver would be a huge area to cover. i've never played any gtas before so i don't know how big the worlds are but the seattle metro area alone has 3 or 4 million people, and vancouver is over 100 miles away

Gladius

Looks like it could be the east coast. I'd be interested if Rockstar included a New England/Boston-esque region. New York and DC are more or less a given, but they may just include a Florida/Vice City area as well (in expansions perhaps?).

Yeah, it would be pretty big, but with other GTAs I'd assume they'd compress it down, but the maps in GTA games do tend to get pretty expansive anyway. Like, this is the map for San Andreas which has it's own fictionalized versions of Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco. http://myepsilon.org/maps/gtasa_aerial_map.jpg

i love them all really, but for different reasons. 4 might be my favorite because the city is so incredible, though i wish you walked a bit faster. they did a fucking ridiculous job making sure you felt like you actually were in a real city, more so than any other game ive played. it wasnt even the improved graphics or anything, but while the other ones kind of felt like they were giving you an open world that only existed for the sake of being a videogame setting and being destroyed, 4's city actually felt like a real place, just one you could run wild in.
i like the over the top ridiculousness of the other games where you could drive ridiculously fast shooting everyone and then getting away with a jetpack, but i thought 4 was a more well made game with a beautifully done city. also the shooting controls were better (but seriously you walk so fuckin slow when you dont sprint jesus).
i wish they changed the mission structure more often, as delivery missions and kill x get kind of monotonous after a bit. i thought the bank heist in 4 was a high for the series, and id love to see more of that kind of thing in 5

well it's a game about being a crook and an asshole there's really not that much they can do to shake it up unless you wanna commit virtual tax fraud

Shouldn't this be like GTA X or XII? I mean, why even bother using numerals any more?

because it's a completely new game engine

vice city was more like a stand-alone expansion to gta3, you don't count the DLC for gta4 as a seperate game do you?

so yeah it's gta+london 1969, gta2, gta3+vice city+san andreas+whatever else i forgot, and gta4+liberty city stories

Jon

some people are thinking it's going to take place in a las vegas style city

if that's the case, i can't wait

Meh, I guess. Don't forget Chinatown Wars.

Sinitron

chinatown wars was a handheld spinoff, not an entry in the main series
