post little apps you use on your computer that save you a lot of time/are very useful to you.

i'll start with a few:
flux - i've actually made a thread about flux in the past, but for those of you who don't remember it's basically an app that runs in the background and slowly changes the luminosity and tint of your screen as it gets later in the night so the screen is less strain on your eyes. this has saved me a lot of headaches. but make sure you turn it off if you're doing color work  ;)

PRGrep - can search for a keyword or regex within a folder and all files and subfolders within that folder, and then shows you where it is and the line # in the file. searches super fast as well. this has saved me hours of time when debugging large projects. adds itself to the right-click menu for easy access

dBpoweramp - one-stop-shop for converting any audio file into whatever you want. all you need are the plugins for each filetype and they're easy to get and also free. adds itself to the right-click menu and can do batch conversions.

CCleaner - Identifies and terminates registry errors, I run it to clean out my hard drive and uninstall programs I no longer want that mysteriously have no Uninstaller app included.

Malwarebytes - Removes Malware or some shit I dunno

WinDirStat - Scans your hard drive and creates a detailed listing of what files are hogging up what space.  It's what I used to discover that tf2 was taking up a third of my C:\ before I uninstalled it.

Speedfan - Monitors the temperature inside your hard drive and allows you to adjust the speed of your fan (hence the name I guess) accordingly.

Daemon Tools Lite - Allows you to emulate a disc drive on your desktop and run .isos and such without burning them to a CDR/DVD beforehand.

can't believe you mentioned that and not the most awesome converter you've ever shown to me.

SUPER is a great converter, that lets you convert swf files, video files, audio files, flv, animated gifs and pretty much anything else you can imagine to just about everything. Have a video and you just want the sound extracted from that? Use Super. Want to put a video on your cellphone but the video has a wrong format? Use super. swf to video? Use super. Basically it can do anything for you and i've never really had any problems with it.

it's cuz i don't use super anymore

www.filehippo.com

This site contains dozens of useful programs, many of them free. Completely clean too, so no need to worry about viruses. If you are the type that would rather download the programs from the home site, there is a link provided on each of these following pages below. The ones that I use are:

Pidgin - http://filehippo.com/download_pidgin/

Multi-platform freeware that functions with several IM clients, such as MSN Live, Yahoo, AOL, Trillian, Google Talk and more. For Windows and Linux!

7-zip - http://filehippo.com/download_7zip_32/

File compression, freeware, open source, and a very tiny imprint on your memory. Plus it's a crumb of space on your HDD; a mere 1.09 megabytes.

VLC Media Player - http://filehippo.com/download_vlc/

Open source, freeware, a media player that can practically play anything. Good for playing video files that aren't supported by WMP, such as .mkv, .ogg, and more. Also for Windows and Linux!

OpenOffice.org - http://filehippo.com/download_openoffice/

The open source (seeing a trend here?), and freeware that's a fine competitor to Microsoft's Office products. Comes with a drawing, spreadsheet, access-like, presentation software, along with optional language packs for those of us who aren't native English speakers.

Defraggler - http://filehippo.com/download_defraggler/

From the same company that produced CCleaner. Functions are similar to Windows own defragging software, only less taxing on memory and a simple and use to use GUI. Freeware. :)

and last of all....

Linux: Ubuntu - http://www.ubuntu.com/

A complete OS... for free! It's the most user friendly of all the projects that fall under Canonical's OS' and also the most used/supported. Be warned, it's a bit of a learning curve if you're a standard Windows user.

Open source. Gotta love it.

Enjoy.

logen

well, you guys pretty much posted everything i have, so I'm left with

Unlocker - This is a pretty nifty program that adds itself to the right click menu, if something is "stuck" on your computer, it can make it "unstuck" or even delete it. Helped me a lot with deleting shit and other stuff.

Crabarms

trinity rescue kit - Put it on cd/usb can do many things. Such as remove password from windows (not sure if it damages anything in the process my brothers computer was crap and he forgot his password so I didn't really take any precautions or anything).

Pants, the terrible

flux messes with my eyes. i dont care for it.

malwarebytes had a virus (as scanned by AVG, norton, and other jokes)

dBpoweramp is good.

notepad is still the best app i have ever used. i don't think i have used another program more in ratio to the time i've had it. you may have heard of this program.

your welcome.

Actually, I love flux. I stayed up all morning and it really helped alleviate the strain on my eyes.
