I didn't know what thread I was supposed to make this in so I made a new one

-------

INTRODUCTION:

every weekend, we do a starcraft 2 "fightclub night", in which we all get together and invite a bunch of random folks to come in and jump into the "ring", where we all duke it out and get our internet noses real bloody. sometimes we even see internet broken limbs and on an even rarer case, loss of internet self-esteem. these matches have inspired us to actually put together something structural this weekend, which could hopefully evolve into a weekly or bi-weekly tradition. all of it is streamed on the tba starcraft stream. they are also commentated usually by me or rtil, depending on whether one of us is playing or not, and sometimes features guest commentators like bartonix and sinitron! we usually request them because they say silly things. additionally, NotKenny will be our beloved commentator, because he has a beautiful voice.

RULES AND ENCOURAGEMENTS:
- you are encouraged to gg at the end of a match because that is an example of GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP
- you are encouraged to not show other forms of bm (bad manners); this includes playing Terran and flying buildings all over the map because you don't want to lose or you want to spite your opponent
- cheese is frowned upon by the great korean hierarchy and many of the more PRESTIGIOUS, GENTLEMANLY PLAYERS, but we're not completely lactose intolerant and cheese is technically allowed, although it's not really fun or interesting to watch
- you are encouraged to not sit around for long periods of time and not attack because it bores the spectators and commentators
- and otherwise, don't be a motherfucking dickhead!

FAQ
no one actually asks anything, this is really just for shit i don't want to explain later.

Q: When and where does the tournament take place?
A: The tournament currently starts every week on Friday at roughly 7PM EST. It can be viewed on the stream. Replays can also be seen on the stream, and all of the actual match replays without commentary are posted in the individual tournament threads. As Livestream has an on-demand limit and we don't intend to actually pay the ridiculous price for a higher quota, we're planning on starting up some uploads some of the better matches to a youtube channel in the near future.

Q: What are the Alpha and Omega divisions?
A: The Alpha, as stated above, is the top-tier division, while the Omega division is the lower bracket.

Q: How is placement decided for the tiers?
A: Tournament 0 determined how the seeding process for the divisions worked out, but any players who join the tournament are evaluated by the tournament organizers and placed in the division pool.

Q: Can players graduate from Omega, or fall out of Alpha?
A: Yes, like the Code A and Code S in the GSL, the roster changes on a weekly basis. Every week, the top two players in Omega will have the chance to fight the bottom two players in Alpha for graduation in two best of 3 series.

Q: Are there any entry restrictions, such community exclusivity or skill limits?
A: It kind of sounds stupid, but as this tournament is just a weekly fun competition that may possibly offer cash prizes at some point in the future, we really don't want fantastic players coming in here and destroying everyone. As the skill level changes, this restriction may disappear later, but as it stands, the players in Alpha are generally platinum and low-diamond level. The matches and results are entertaining, and we want to keep them that way.

Q: Are there any builds that are not allowed in the tournament? What about cheese?
A: Cheese is allowed, but actual good matches are encouraged. We've all seen proxy rushes and cannon rushes and 6pools, so it's preferable to see new things. The only cheeses that would currently bring a penalty and/or disqualification are marine+SCV all-ins and worker rushes. The former because that shit is undoubtedly overpowered to the point where weaker players can do it to masters players and a-move to victory. In the case of the latter, well, worker rushes are completely retarded, and if you plan to actually win matches with them, we don't really want you in our tournament. The only scenario in which a marine+scv all in might be considered justifiable is if someone does something stupid like a double gas steal as zerg, in which case they'd just be asking for it, as seen in this replay. No other rushes are punished otherwise and cheese is generally allowed, albeit sometimes pretty gay.

Q: Who do I contact for tournament entry?
A: Contact either rtil or I. PM us on here, or leave a post, pretty much anything.

aether

we'd need to create a new bracket, i wasn't aware you had sc2. well we also have richchap, testsubject and metroid, so i guess if we wanted, we could split the players up a little bit more if we got another person and have a bracket C.

i can start pretty much any time on Friday. Saturday is also fine and Sunday can be for some extended play.

rtil

i'm pretty sure most of us are on the west coast but i'm not positive. regardless its a weekend so i don't think anyone will object to late night times.

perhaps we should start a newbie league/bracket for the newer players such as myself if there are enough of us. if not oh well, the best way to learn is from experience and internet shame is what mom always told me.

some of us (sin, ash, me) are european tho so the earlier we can start, the better, cause otherwise we'd have to stay up to like 2-4am until the thing starts.

sev

maybe if we get more people i'll switch up the brackets to be more time-based rather than randomizing them. i'll just randomize the matchups within the brackets. that sounds like a good idea.

also aether what's your thing

cipher

Yeah I can go any time saturday/sunday and after 2:30pm PST on friday

retrosmash

for some reason this thread reminds me of darkeon's tf2 highlander doohickey

psi43

for those of you who didn't catch it last night:

first game was me vs. rtil, rtil won that one
second game rtil vs. zack, which rtil won
then me vs. blue phoenix, which i won after he tried to bunker rush me i nydus wormed him
then zack vs. bp7, which zack won
and finally me vs. zack, which i won(easily due to a bad starting position of zack, maybe we should've re-matched)

that was it for bracket A, bracket B already began as well, but just one game which was
sinister vs. cipher. Cipher did good but sinister was really great at cornering cipher right from the beginning, so he wasn't able to do much, so sinister won that one.

Philip K Dick

i would join but i lost my disk years ago

4 is better anyway cause of the character creator

rtil

i fell asleep at like 9:30 last night so i actually missed pretty much everything after my games

that won't happen today i promise !

BluPhoenix

i need to find a way to not suck total ass

probably investing in less infantry
